今がドイツで旬のアスパラガス、あと２週間でおしまいです。ブレーマーハーフェン近辺には午前中だけ開く、小さなお店がアチラコチラに見られます。近くの農家から朝摘みのアスパラといちごが売られています。いちごはアイスクリームと一緒に、そしてイタリアのグラッパというお酒をかけて食べます。

This morning I discovered one of the great things about going to a restaurant by oneself. Normally, eating alone is a boring experience. Not to mention, people tend to stare and outwardly pity the poor person that is sitting solo. This can make the solitary diner feel disconcerted or even embarrassed. However, if you go almost anywhere for breakfast in Waikiki, especially on a Sunday, invariably everywhere is packed with people. In fact, there is typically a very long line full of unhappy couples or larger groups that can’t get any seats. The only exception to the rule of having to waiting an excessively long time to find a seat for breakfast in Waikiki is to arrive alone and take a seat at the bar. Today, it was quite a treat to have the opportunity to walk right past a line of a hundred people and plop down in an open seat.

Today is my third Japanese lesson. After my Japanese lesson I will go to my friend’s house to hangout and then we will go to club after.

For quite a few years, Japanese food has been my favorite food. I love fish and seafood and it is often used in Japanese cooking. Also, there are many different types of Japanese Cuisine that are available. One type that I really like is the many types of noodles. Somen, Soba and Udon are staples at my house! Of the three, my favorite is plain, cold Udon. It is very easy to make and one can add many different items to it. I find that it is especially good on a hot day. When I have just Udon noodles I rarely add anything to it. Just eat it as is and I am sure that you will find that it is both very delicious and filling!
