2枚目のキルトは「黒船を主題にして、まわりに開国時の異人さんを配置して. . . 」と、アイデアは膨らむばかり。そのためには、アップリケの勉強を、と本を開いてみると、ローラーカッター、ヒュージブルウエブ等など、小学生時代にフェルトを使ってちょこちょこやっていたアップリケとはいささか事情がちがっています。こういった器具のお陰でアップリケは飛躍的に進歩しましたとあります。こうなったら、本の通りにやってみるしかないと決めました。コンピューターで機能するミシンをなんとか使いこなせるようになったと思ったら、今度はヒュージブルウエブ、フリーモーションジグザグ. . . . .

あなたの一言が、うれしかった。 あなたの一言で、頑張れた。 あなたの一言に、ありがとう。 とろみどりさんへ 「退職する」と知らせていた患者さんからこんな手紙をもらった。本当にこの方の役に立っていたのなら、心の底から嬉しい。看護師やっててよかった。 最後の勤務。 もう一人ちゃんとあいさつをしておきたかった患者さん。退職を伝えたら驚いてた。「また、絶対看護師をしなさい。するべき人なんだから。僕が言うんだから間違いない。ありがとう、これからも頑張ってね。」涙。勤務中です、我慢。できない。穏やかに勤務が進んで、朝が来て、終わりました。おつかれ、自分。患者さんからの言葉はでかいな。ほんま。ありがたすぎてどうしよう。看護師またやりたい。
