Haiku Poem

at first a shadow
slowly a figure appears
at peace and happy

When going down the descent line, at first I only see a shadow but soon the huge ship stares at me from the bottom. Once it was a ship of war but now it is a very gentle home to many different kinds of fish, turtles and divers. I get the feeling from the ship that it is happy in its final stage.

Haiku Poem

rain pounds
black clouds swirl dark
waves crash

Hurricanes and strong tropical storms bring with them clouds, rain and strong surf. When a storm arrives, the sky turns dark, it rains heavily and the waves get large.

with music
I stretch the muscles
of my heart

There are so many ups and downs every day. I am trying my best to stay sane, but unconsciously, I become anxious and stressed out. This is something I realize when I listen to music. Music makes me feel uplifted, gives me back my strength, and helps me get a good night’s rest.

Out of Nowhere, memoir – by Jena Fellers

Outside of newspaper articles, this is my first published article. I’m enclosing a link as it is an online magazine (fall/winter issue). My story, “Out of Nowhere,” is found in section VI. It is a nonfiction story about being in the April tornado. Hope you enjoy. There are many other good stories for your reading pleasure.

pedestrians
are you in control
of this city

In the city of Osaka, people crowd the streets just like in Fujisawa. Drivers blow their horns noisily and shout things like “crazy!” “idiot!” “where are you going?!” “watch out!”, and the cars sometimes look like they’re going to burst right through groups of people.

Life in Japan: Okayama

I recently went to visit a friend in Okayama. Okayama is about 3 1/2 hours south from Tokyo by way of the “Shinkansen”(Bullet Train). The town that he lives in is “勝央町” (Shoo-Cho), which is supposedly where Kintaro (a famous Japanese folk hero) died. During my trip, I got to see a completely different side of Japan filled with mountains, rivers and countryside. The highlight of my trip was experiencing my first “rotenburo” or outdoor hot springs. Although I was initially hesitant, I quickly realized how amazing these hot springs are. There was nothing more relaxing than enjoying the outdoors in a natural spa. I can’t wait to try it again. Here are some pictures from my trip.

Second day (10/26/2014)

I’m standing on one foot.
The result of my health check was excellent!

I bumped into a lady who works as a dental hygienist at my dental clinic.
