中島美貴代さんから、鎌倉の鶴岡八幡宮のお茶会に
お誘いいただいたので、会いに行ってきました。
美貴代さんは裏千家の茶道教授です。
お客さまのおもてなしで忙しそうでしたが、
お茶席で楽しいおしゃべりができました。
午後は流鏑馬（やぶさめ）でしたが、
残念ながら時間がなかったので帰りました。
We were invited to a tea ceremony by Nakajima-san at Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura. She is a Japanese tea ceremony instructor. We had an enjoyable time!

善行のご近所さん、藤田さんからお誘いをいただいて、
「さんわーくかぐや」の「かぐや祭り」に行ってきました。
ダンスや音楽、制作したものや食品の販売、
今年も大勢の人が訪れて賑わっていました。
We went to Kaguya Festival at Fujita-san’s facility in Zengyo. Everyone was enjoying themselves!

向山武志さんの作品展を見に、川崎市の
「アートガーデンかわさき」へ行きました。
正に向山さんの底力を感じる作品でした。
We went to an art exhibition to see Mukoyama-san’s work of art. I felt a deep power from his creation.

音楽の用事で、府中市へ行ってきました。
信頼する腕の良いヴァイオリン工房です。
アレルギーを避ける為、あご当てをチタンに換え、
四角いドイツ製の丈夫なケースも買いました。
写真の小さい楽器はポシェットヴァイオリンです。
I went to see a violin craftsman for the maintenance of my violin. I bought a square violin case too.

It is the middle of Cicada Season. A little away from the dense foliage, a group of little birds is hopping among treetops. The size and the way they fly suggest that they are small wood peckers or nuthatches. Birds are not at all bothered by cicada noise, concentrating on their own business. There are two worlds above my small garden: the world of cicadas and that of the small birds.
耳をつんざく蝉の大合唱に誘われて空を見上げると、鬱蒼と茂った木立から少し離れた梢を数羽の小鳥が飛び交わています。大きさや飛ぶ様子から察すると小型のキツツキかナットハッチ（nuthatch）のようです。これらの小鳥は蝉の騒音にはまったく意を介さず、自分たちの用事に専念。狭い庭の上空に蝉の世界と小鳥の世界の２つの世界が併存しています。ナットハッチは背が空色、頭頂と羽が紺色の小鳥で、木の幹を頭を下に降りてきます。

次のコンサートで演奏する曲目を
賀来さんと二人で、集中的に練習しました。
ヴァイオリンで、映画「シンドラーのリスト」のメインテーマ
フォーレのシチリアーノ、シューベルトのセレナーデや、
ドボルザークのユーモレスク、誰もいない海など、１０曲以上、
リコーダーとヴァイオリンでアンサンブルの響きを作っています。
We rehearsed Schindler’s list, Siciliano, Serenade, Humoresque and so on.

尾崎丘（たかし）さんからお誘いをいただいて、
鎌倉芸術館へ、木版画の個展を観に行きました。
今年も新たな作風を生み出していて大変驚きました！
尾崎さんご夫妻と楽しくお話ししながら鑑賞しました。
個展は９月８日(日）午後６時までです。
We were invited to Ozaki-san’s wooden engraving solo exhibition. We were so impressed because he created a new style!

On the last weekend of August, I went back to Iowa and volunteered at a children’s event. The event was hosted by the Japan American Society of Iowa. It was a summer festival for students at the Manabiya school. This school has students that study the Japanese language. Some students are Japanese but many are not. I helped the children to play some Japanese games. For example, the kids fished for goldfish. Also, the kids used fake guns made out of chopsticks to shoot rubber bands at targets. The festival was a lot of fun for the kids.
八月の最後の週末に、アイオワに戻り、子供向けのイベントにボランティアで参加しました。このイベントは、アイオワ日米協会が主催しました。それは、マナビヤ スクールの生徒たちの為の夏祭りでした。この学校には、日本語を勉強する生徒がいます。生徒のうち何人かは、日本人ですが、大半は、日本人ではありません。私は子供たちが、日本の遊びをする、お手伝いをしました。たとえば、金魚すくいです。また、割り箸を使ったゴム鉄砲で標的に輪ゴムを撃ちました。子供たちは、祭りを楽しんでくれました。

温かい音色です。８曲ほどヴァイオリンと二重奏をしました。
チームナコスの次のコンサートは１０月３日です。
折り紙のサンプルもきれいな形でできました。
今日の練習場所は、鵠沼橘市民の家でした。

Even though the changing seasons can be a little more subtle than in many other places, there is one very distinct change on Oahu. During the summer months the sun sets over the Waianae mountain range but towards the end of summer the sun sets in the ocean. During the seasons of Autumn, Winter and Spring the sun is always easily seen setting on the ocean. As summer approaches, the sun reverts back to setting on the mountain.
ハワイの季節の変化は、他の所と比べれば微妙ですが、オアフ島には非常に明確な変化があります。オアフ島では、夏の間、太陽は、ワイアナエ山脈に沈みます。しかし、夏の終わりには、海に沈みます。秋、冬、春の季節には、太陽が海に沈むのが、いつでも見られます。そして、夏が近づくと、太陽は山に沈むようになります。
