I recently became a member of the Academy of Arts here in Honolulu. On the last Friday of every month, they have what is called “Art After Dark”, which is a lot of fun. Last night Tori Richards sponsored it and they had a runway show. You also have the opportunity to walk around and view all the galleries, plus they always have a live band and plenty of food and drinks. One of the most crowded exhibits was the Katsushika Hokusai gallery, which most of these paintings featured Mount Fuji or the Great Wave. I did take a bunch of pictures, but made a mistake when loading them onto my computer and lost them all. Not a big problem, I live close to the Academy of Arts, so I’ll be able to take those pictures again and post them.

I had a lot of fun and plan on going back every time they have Art After Dark. Its become very popular lately and a good excuse to get a little bit dressed up and socialize.

バリトン歌手の畑中良輔さん（８７歳）が中心となって創設した「奏楽堂日本歌曲コンクール」というのが２０回目を迎えたそうです。日本歌曲のすばらしさを認識し、きちんと歌える人材を育成していこうという思いからこのコンクールは始まりました。

日本歌曲ではとりわけ 「声の年輪」といったものが歌唱によい影響を与えますし、さまざまな事情で一時歌から離れた中高年の方が、また歌に精進するチャンスやきっかけになればいいですね、と畑中さんは語っています。最近では９０歳の女性も受けに来たという話です。

It’s getting cooler now here.  I’m looking forward the change in the colors of the leaves, but not the cold.  I’m enjoying Sasebo.  We are very busy with work right now.  In fact, I was at work until 2am today.

Some of the good things I’ve been able to do this past summer is climb Mt. Aso in Kumamoto, Taradake in Isahaya, and Mt. Fuji.  Mt. Aso was very beautiful and the view was great.  Hiking on Taradake in Isahaya was through the trees and kind of a strenuous climb at parts.  It took us 7-1/2 hours to climb.  Mt. Aso was only abour 4 or 5 hours.  Mt. Fuji is beautiful from far away, but on the mountain, it is very rocky.  The climb is only really hard because of the altitude.  There’s no air.  It took about 6 hours to climb up, and 2 hours to climb down.  I got to see the sunrise on Mt. Fuji.  Now that was something to see.  The sun rose between two layers of clouds.  It’s a unusual thing to have clouds below you and above you.  But it was the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen.

ボイトレ日。月に２回で５月から続けてます。なかなか上達しない。そりゃそう。自己練やってないんだもん。先生に喝を入れられました。うまくなりたいんやったらコツコツやらないと、と。先生自身もやる気のない子に教えるのは時間の無駄やろな。私自身もお金の無駄やし。

プロじゃないんだから、と言ってしまえばそれまでだけど、趣味だけどうまくなりたいと思って始めたんだから、結果出したいよね。うまくなりたいって気持ちは大きいけど、そこに至るまでの下積みを全くしていない。。。コツさえ覚えたらうまくなるかな、レッスンに行きさえすれば上達するかななんて思って始めた。そんな甘いもんじゃぁなかったね。

継続は力なり。やらないもんはできない。仕事仕事の中でやる時間ない、と固定観念が…。やろうと思えば時間なんていくらでも作れるんだよね。知ってる。生活の中で習慣化したいけど、どうしたらいいか思案中。まずは他力を使って、先生に宿題を毎回出してもらうことにしました。お尻をひっぱたいてもらいます。うまくなりたいんやろ！好きな歌楽しく歌いたいんやろ！とろみどり！！

お日様が真上にある時刻。ワイキキに用事があったついでに、ロイヤルハワイアンホテルのビーチに出てみました。２０年以上前に、私が初めてハワイを訪れた際に宿泊したホテルで、いつまでも変わらず心に残る景色を見せてくれます。

最近、親友の結婚式に向け、大学の友、後輩たちと
多くやり取りをするようになりました。
離れてても、存在を確認するとホッとする。
声を聞いて安心する。
よい仲間を持ちました。
おめでたい席でみんなに会えるのが楽しみだな。

昨日は幹事をしてる結婚式二次会の打ち合わせに行ってきました。
ケーキのこと、進行のこと、音響のこと…などいろいろ決定。

でもまだいろいろ準備せなあかんことがあるしね。
当日楽しみやし、いいものになるように頑張ろーーう。

そのあとの深夜勤も頑張ろーーーう。
絶対眠くなると思い、夕方から気合入れて寝ました。結構寝れた。
深夜勤も睡魔に襲わせることなく終わりました。よかったぁ（＾o＾）
