昨日はヨガ教室に行きました。

もう習いはじめて一年半経ちます。

だんだん体が柔らかくなって、肩こりもましになってきています。

ヨガの時間は、自分と向き合い、心身をいたわる時間です。

The forecast for this weekend is for twenty foot tall waves on the North Shore. I have never seen any waves so large in person! So, I think I will go to take a look on Saturday. My coworkers all recommend going to Sunset Beach for easy parking and the best view. Fortunately, they tell me that there is also a great cafe nearby that serves terrific breakfast and coffee because I’m sure that I will be starving. I hear their haupia pie is the best.

今日の長崎、６時はまだ暗いです。　曇りか晴れかどうかわかりません。　最近、寒くなってきました。　私は寒いのがいやです。　　このあたりはあまり紅葉しません。

おとといの日曜日、職場の運動会がありました。
同じ系列の病院や施設のスタッフもくるので、
淡路島の小学校の運動場を借りて、開催されました、
私は選抜リレーに出ました。
予選は三位で、決勝に進出しました。
でも久しぶりに本気で走ったので、しんどくて、
もう二度と走れない気分でした。
特に後半の100メートルがきつくて失速するし、足がもつれて
転びかけるくらいでした。
みんなからアドバイスをもらい、決勝はなんとか
後半もスピードが落ちず、6チーム中5位でした。
絶対ビリだと思っていたので、とても嬉しかったです。
しかも我が病院は、今までリレーで決勝に進んだことはなかったのですから！！

ほかの競技も声が枯れるほど応援し、結果は13チーム中4位でした！
入賞まであと一歩でしたが、本当に満足です。
楽しかったです！！

そして次の日は全身筋肉痛でしたとさ！

さあ、来年にむけてまた走らなくてわ！

今日テレビで、今年のノーベル賞を受賞した、山中教授が出演されてまいました。
話の中で、素敵な言葉をいくつか見つけましたので、メモします。
研究を成功させるには、ＶとＷが必要だそうです。
Ｖは、vision(目標)。Ｗは、work(働く)。
つまり、目標を見失わず、それにむかってとにかく働く！
ということだそうです。
もう一つの言葉は、「あれこれ考えるのではなく、どんどん変えろ！」
というものです。
ほんとうにそうやなと思い、明日からの仕事に喝が入りました！

Today I tried to communicate with my family using Skype. Skype is a computer program that lets you speak with other people over the internet. It is very convenient when you are separated from other people by time and distance. I was impressed that the picture was clear and the audio quality was very good. I think the quality of the transmission depends on the speed of the internet connection. In any case, it was great to see my relatives and have the chance to share some views of Hawaii.

My last living grandparent is my mother’s father, Santiago Vazquez. He remains in good health even in his eighties. Good health runs in his family genes. His father and his father’s father also lived well into their nineties. I know him as the strong silent type, a man of a few words. But I think it’s because he’d rather speak in his native language, Spanish. Still, he has a vibrant spirit. In his youth in Puerto Rico he was Boxer, and it shows when he dances. He incorporates boxing moves with his dance moves. It’s fun to watch. I hope to see him again before his health begins to fail him.
