my dog

I have a yorkshire terrier. His name is koko. Its funny when I bathe him. When its time to rinse him, i hold him in the palm of my hand and rinse. His natural instinct kicks in and he starts to swim in the air.

Lesson update

Yesterday, I read my profile in Japanese three times. I got through it with a few mistakes, but am happy that I’ve improved a bit more. Writing Hiragana has been pretty fun and I’m beginning to understand it more. Katakana on the other hand is giving me a bit of trouble. Well, practice makes perfect.

A day at the Ranch

Today I spent an hour with a participant I work with, watching him ride a horse. Not only was I surprised to see such a young boy ride as well as he does, I was stunned to see that he also plays basketball while riding. I often chance upon a person that surprises me, but, I think this is the first time that my chin hit the ground. I look forward to see other things that he can do.

Dr. Kuo

Life In Chicago: Getting Old

This past weekend was my 26th birthday! It’s funny but time seems to fly so much faster as you get older. I remember when I was younger that I couldn’t wait to grow up and that it felt like an eternity before I became an adult. Now, I wish I could go back and be young again haha I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. More to come…

15th Lesson

Today I practiced one of my new stories about 10 times with Shuzo. I wasn’t able to speak as fast as I would like but I’m able to recognize more hiragana each time. I also practiced こと が できます and こと が あります。I will need to review these forms more during my practice times. I was able to answer questions about my new story and practiced color names.

Japan News

Japan has been in the news a lot these days. Based on recent reports, some news is good and some is disconcerting. For example, the Japanese stock market has gone up so current economic policies of the Japanese government have been lauded. At the same time, old regional animosities have once again emerged over issues such as Japan’s military history and territorial disputes. While recent visits by Japan’s leaders to a religious shrine have stirred controversy, of greater concern is the military confrontation over Pacific islands between China and Japan. Meanwhile, North Korea has fired rockets that have gotten the attention of Japan and others. It is good for Japan that the economy is improving but Japan still faces difficult decisions and many risks.
