先週、気温が記録的に低下したにも拘らず、ヌービーの冬毛が抜け始めと書きましたが、案の定、１３日朝、華氏マイナス４度（摂氏マイナス２０度）まで下がったのを最後にその後温度はスルスルと上昇、昨１８日は華氏５７度（摂氏１４度）に。明るく注ぐ日の光も手伝って全くの小春日和。
そうなると俄然やる気がでてきます。手をつけたのは、玄関脇の物入れの中の改造。主として小鳥とヌービーのえさ置き場として使っていますが、他の物も加わってかなり混乱状態。解決法は棚を設ける他なし、とホームインプルーブセンターへ出向き、取り付けが簡単そうな材料を買いました。棚取り付け後、混乱状態がかなり緩和されたのは事実ですが、同時に不要の物をかなり捨てたもよかったようです。
一番寒いといわれる２月を前にこの暖かさが何時まで続くのか、まだ予断を許しませんが、例年より一足早く整理整頓が出来すっきりとした気分を味わっています

When I am laying on the special couch for the blood platelet procedure to start I am always a little bit uneasy when I see the Nurse come in with the needle. It is fairly long, and very shiny under the bright lights. The Nurse always says that “this will hurt for just a second” but it actually hurts longer than a second! While the process takes about 75 minutes, my arm is not in pain but it isn’t exactly comfortable either. I always think that maybe this time the donation I am making will really be able to help either the baby or Mother out so I believe it is worth the mild pain as it is nothing in
comparison with what the Mother is going through.
血小板献血の為の特別のソファーに横になり、献血の手順が始まるのを待っている時、看護師さんが注射針を持って来ます。私は、その針を見て、いつも、少し不安になります。部屋の明るい電灯のせいで、長い針はかなりピカピカ光っているからです。看護師さんは、いつも、「痛みは、一秒程度です」と言います。しかし、本当は一秒より長く痛いです。このプロセスは、だいたい７５分くらいかかります。その間、腕は痛くないのですが、楽とも言えません。そんな時、私の献血が、助けを必要とする赤ちゃんやお母さんの大きな力になることを思います。お母さんが、今、経験している苦痛に比べたら、私の苦痛など大したことではないと思えるのです。

We’ve had a stretch of cold weather which doesn’t help. Have to keep the fire burning hot. In fact I have to go split wood today. Here is a picture of a Pyle of wood we got today. Did not have to split this yet.

My first time going to Seattle was in November 2014. It was a memorable trip that I will never forget. My friends and I drove to Leavenworth to stay in a Cabin and it was snowing heavily. We went to a place called German town and it was so beautiful with all the christmas lights and large trees covered with snow. I have never seen so much snow in my life. We took many photos and enjoyed our first night by walking around town and going to all the little stores that were open. It truly was a great experience to be there.

I saw a beautiful outdoor scene this winter in Kansas. Looking outside there was a creek that flowed through a small forest. On either bank, deers were laying by the creek while brown leaves fell around them.
今年の冬、私はカンザスの美しい風景を目にしました。私の自宅の窓越しに、綺麗な小川が見えます。小川は小さな森に流れ込んでいます。その小川の両岸に、ひらひらと枯葉が舞い散る中、数頭の鹿がゆったりと座っていました。

昨冬あたりから、ARCTIC BLAST（北極から吹き付ける寒風）はすっかりおなじみの言葉となりました。
新聞（Omaha World-Herald)によると、風が吹いて空気をかき混ぜると冷たい空気が地表にとどまらずに寒さを和らげる、とありますが、寒いという事実は変わりません！
