生みたて卵を買いに行った帰り道、
神社に寄り道をしました。

「阿」は口を開いて、「吽」は口を閉じて、
阿吽（あうん）の呼吸で、狛犬さんと撮影しました。

ハワイにいるナコスファミリーのチェイ・シラーさんが、
外国人の為の、日本語能力上級、認定書を送ってくれました。

2014年の秋、日本からスカイプで集中的に出題用例を練習し、
一番難しいレベルに合格しました。

まだ一度も日本に来たことのないチェイさん、好機到来！
今年は日本に来る予定です。ともに精進してまいりましょう。
「学び続ける」ですね！

収穫などと言っても片手に入るほどの少量ですが、もぎたてのほうれん草の美味しいことには驚きました。
ほうれん草を育てたのは今回が初めてです。
種を買ったものの半信半疑で植えてみましたら、すくすくと成長し、もうこのへんで、と収穫。

まず、根が赤いのがよろしい（こちらのお店で売っているほうれん草は根が白い）。
そのせいかお味も日本のほうれん草のようです。

私的な意見ですが、日本のほうれん草は暖かい味がするのに対し、こちらのほうれん草は冷たい味がします。

これで味をしめて（！）今日、もう１０粒植えてみました。天候が許す限り、一週間おきにでも続けて植えてみるつもりです。
種が大きめ（２ミリ程度）なのもよろしい。こまかい種の野菜は間引きしなければならないのがやっかいです。

それにしても、「ほうれん草は育てやすい、ぜひ、家庭菜園で」と言われていないのはなぜでしょう。

Harvesting may be a little exaggerated, since the quantity was so small. Still, super-fresh spinach was very delicious. This is the first time I ever grew spinach. I was not at all sure, when I purchased seeds, but the spinach grew well.

The spinach has red roots like that grown in Japan called ho-ren-so. Spinach found in stores here has white roots. My spinach also tastes like ho-ren-so.

Personally, ho-ren-so feels warm, while USA’s spinach feels cool.

As we like ho-ren-so so much, I planted ten more seeds today、and will continue planting, maybe weekly, as long as weather permits. These seeds are fairly large (1/8 inch), sparing me from thinning later.

By the way, why don’t we hear that spinach is so easy to grow. Try it in your garden!

鎌倉のお寺で遊んで、食べ歩きもしました。

サーフィンやヨットを眺めながらのウォーキング～ここはもう夏です！
ちょっぴりハワイの海が懐かしくなりました。

A nun from Kenya came to visit church today. She wanted to raise awareness of church groups in Africa that are helping the young and underprivileged. She also wanted to ask for donations to support these groups. Unfortunately, she said that there are a lot of children that are not in loving families. She said that too many are abused. I hope that she and others like her are able to do good work to help such people in need.

この金庫は約８５年前のものです。
昭和の初期に、藤沢のお米屋さんが開業し、その後、廃業後は、
蔵まえギャラリーとして、現在は、佐野さんが運営しています。

お宝がぎっしり？
残念ながら空っぽでした。。。念の為！

The Safe

This safe is from around 85 years ago. In the beginning of the Showa era, a rice shop opened here. After the previous owner retired, this building was converted into the Kuramae Gallery, which Ms. Sano currently manages.

Is it brimming with treasure?
Unfortunately it was empty…just in case! We wouldn’t want thieves sneaking in!
