久しぶりボートのツアー海に出る
ひさしぶり　ボート の ツアー　うみ に でる

On Saturday, September 26th I finally had a boat tour! Looking at the Captain’s log book the last tour was on June 12th! The lock down rules have become a little bit easier and tour boats can now take 25% of the total passengers allowed. On the boat that I drive I can take 13 passengers. The tour was a private birthday tour that went from 3:30 until 6:30 in the afternoon and it ended with us watching the sunset. It was a very nice relaxing tour and everybody had a lot of fun. I hope that I can get more tours!

　９月２６日土曜日、やっと遊覧船ツアーを行ないました。航海日誌を見ると、最後のツアーは６月１２日でした。ロックダウンの規制が少しゆるくなり、今は、定員の２５％の乗客を船に乗せることが出来ます。私の操縦する船には１３人乗れます。今回のツアーは乗客７名で、プライベートの誕生パーティーでした。時間は午後３時３０分から６時３０分までのツアーでした。夕日を眺めながら港に戻りました。乗客の皆さんは、ゆったりくつろいで、楽しんでいらっしゃいました。これからツアーの仕事が増えてくることを願います。

Since the end of March there has been very few tourists here because of the quarantine regulations and also the people who live here have tended to stay close to home so that the roads are usually empty. I saw my first traffic jam in a long time the other night on my walk with my wife. The traffic jam was of cars leaving the Waikiki side and heading towards the North and West side. It was strange to see a traffic jam again! I believe that will become a common sight again.

　３月末以降、コロナウイルスによる隔離措置のため観光客は非常に少なく、地元の人は家の近くにいる傾向があったので、道路はいつもガラガラでした。先日、妻と夜の散歩中、６ヶ月ぶりに交通渋滞を見ました。渋滞は、ワイキキを出て北と西へ向かう車の列でした。交通渋滞を見るのは久しぶりだったので不思議な感じがしました。これから、また、よく見かける光景になると思います。

王の色アロハタワーの贈り物
おう の いろ　アロハタワー の　おくりもの

My wife and I go out for our evening walk almost every day and usually we like to go to the Aloha Tower to see what color the lights will be. The tower is usually bathed with a green light and there are also days when the light is red. Every once in a while the light is purple but last night it was a combination of all three colors which is the first time for me! I don’t know if there is any significance but maybe it is a present for all of us dealing with the Corona Virus.

　私は、ほぼ毎日、妻と二人で夜の散歩に出かけます。その時、アロハタワーに行ってライトの色を確かめるのが好きです。アロハタワーは、だいたい緑のライトで照らされています。しかし、赤の日もあります。たまに紫がかった色の時もあります。昨夜は特別でした。３色すべての色が使われていました。初めて見ました。どんな意味があるのか分かりませんが、コロナウイルスと戦っている私たちの為のプレゼントかも知れません。

証明書ネットの処理は味気ない
しょうめいしょ　ネット の しょり は　あじけない

The new corona virus has affected my work. My work hasn’t changed. I still have to go to the office. But the public cannot enter the building right now. My building is where people go for their marriage certificates. It is also where you get a birth certificate and death certificate. 6 months ago, hundreds of people visited my building. Now, everything is closed. All documents are issued and processed online.

　新コロナウイルスは、私の職場にも影響しています。私の仕事内容は変わりません。また、毎日、事務所に行かなければなりません。しかし、建物に入れるのは職員だけで、一般市民は入ることはできません。私の事務所では、結婚証明書や出生証明書、死亡証明書を発行しています。６ヶ月前までは、申請する人が、毎日、何百人も事務所に来ました。しかし今はすべて閉鎖されています。そして、書類はすべてインターネットで処理しています。

怖がり屋黒毛の猫はお客さま
こわがり や　くろげ の ねこ は　おきゃく さま

About 10 years ago when my wife and I lived in our previous apartment we found an abandoned kitten that looked just a few days old. We took her in and she immediately hid for about two days until she trusted she was in a safe place. She was jet black so we called her Azuki. She took a liking to me and would always follow me around and sleep on my bed at night. A couple years later we had to move and our new place wouldn’t accept pets so we gave Azuki to our friend. He has had her for about 4 years now and he needed to go back to Japan for a month and we agreed to take care of her while he is in Japan. Azuki has grown to be a very large cat! She hid for about 4 days and finally started coming out from her hiding place. She does not like our cat Karin and is finally getting to the point where she doesn’t fight her. She seems like she remembers me again and spends the whole day with me and at night sleeps at the foot of my bed!

　およそ１０年前のことです。以前住んでいたアパートで、生後間もないメスの捨て猫を見つけました。私達夫婦は、その子猫を部屋に連れて帰りました。しかし、子猫は、すぐにどこかに隠れてしまいました。２日ほどたって、アパートが安全だと思ったのか出てきました。子猫は、真っ黒だったので「あずき」と名付けました。あずきは私を凄く好きになり、いつも私を追いかけ、夜は私のベッドで寝ました。三年位経って、引っ越すことになりました。新しいアパートは、ペット禁止だったので、あずきは友人にあげました。友人は４年ほど、あずきと暮らしていましたが、約一ヶ月間、日本に帰らなくてはならなくなりました。私は、あずきを預かることにしました。あずきは、とても大きな猫に成長していました。あずきは、しばらく隠れていましたが、４日ほど経って、やっと隠れ場所から出てきました。あずきは、かりんが嫌いです。ずっと喧嘩していましたが、ようやく慣れました。あずきは私のことを思い出したと思います。一日中、私と一緒に過ごし、夜は私のベッドの足元で寝ています。
