藤沢駅の近くを歩いていて目に留まり購入しました。
These are woodblock prints by Shiko Munakata (1903 – 1975). I found and bought this book by chance at a secondhand bookstore when I was just walking on the street near Fujisawa station.

藤沢本町にある伊勢山公園に行ってきました。
「ハローいせやま公園愛護会」の皆さんが
美しい公園作りの為に会議をしていました。
皆川裕子さんは会長を１５年間しています。
そのあと藤沢駅近くで甘いランチ。
I went to Iseyama park and I met Minagawa-san. They had a meeting in order to continue to make this park beautiful and enjoyable place.

グリーンハウスが昨年、改修工事を終えました。
ここはご近所、私のウォーキングコースの一つです。
1932年にゴルフ場のクラブハウスとして作られた建物。
設計者はアントニン レーモンド。築約９０年になります。

The greenhouse in Zengyo was renovated last year. This building is about 90 years old. The old Fujisawa country club was designed by Mr. Antonin Raymond. This area is one of my walking courses. (Two photos above are after the renovation. Three photos below are before the renovation).

ハワイに住んでいた時、私が作った抹茶茶碗です。
時が経つにつれて、深みのある色になっていきます。
I made this tea bowl when I lived in Hawaii. As time goes on, the color of the bowl becomes more beautiful.

Minagawa-san and I talked about various things, and we had a late lunch at a Doutor coffee shop in Fujisawa City Hospital.

夢を見た一分だけの人気シェフ
ゆめ を みた いっぷん だけ の にんき シェフ
The other night I had a very interesting dream that was in Japanese. In the dream I was a world class Chef and I was holding a class for other Chefs in a huge kitchen that had all kinds of cooking and baking tools and a huge stove, oven, refrigerator and freezer. I was teaching the class of Chefs on how I prepare fish and one Chef asked me what type of oil I preferred. The dream was so realistic! I could even smell the fish frying! As soon as I started to answer I woke up! Although the dream seemed like it lasted for only a minute I actually had slept 6 hours!
先日、日本語でとても面白い夢を見ました。夢の中で私は世界に名の通った一流シェフでした。私の働く厨房はとても大きく、あらゆる種類の調理器具、巨大なストーブ、冷蔵庫や冷凍庫が備えられていました。私はその大きな厨房で、シェフのための料理教室を開催していました。私は魚料理の作り方を教えていました。シェフのひとりが私の好きなオイルの種類は何かと質問しました。夢はものすごくリアルな夢で、魚を焼く匂いもしました。私が答え始めると急に目が覚めました。夢を見ている時間は、ほんの一分程度の感じでした。しかし、私は、実際には六時間も寝ていました。

和のアンティークショップ「蝉丸」さんです。
庭でお茶を飲みながら色々な話をしました。
I went to a Japanese antique shop called Semimaru. I talked with Baba-san at the garden.

境内のイチョウの葉が色づき始めています。
白旗神社のお守り、「うまくいくお守り」。
馬蹄デザインのお守り袋です。
Autumn is on its way. The leaves of the ginko tree are beginning to color. The Omamori of Shirahata-jinja Shrine tells it will go well.

サムさんと藤沢駅の前で待ち合わせて、
市役所の傍のベンチに座って話しました。
We met Sam-san in front of Fujisawa station. We sat on a bench near Fujisawa City Hall and we had a good conversation.

ten years
strong connections
with bumble bees

十年来マルハナ蜂との深き縁
じゅうねん らい マルハナバチとの ふかき えん
I still can’t believe what I witnessed on Sunday, September 26.
I noticed two insects flying busily outside the window where we were eating a lunch. At first, we didn’t pay much attention, thinking that wasps were making a nest under the eaves. But I realized that these were bees that were rounder and had different flying pattern from wasps. Then I knew “They were bumble bees, and trying to get my attention!”
The day before, on September 25, I didn’t harvest raspberries due to a relapse of backache and the flu shot I received that day. As the situation didn’t improve on the next day, I was going to take it easy one more day.
For the past ten years or so,I have been harvesting raspberries. Every time I go out to the raspberry patch, bumble bees come flying to suck honey from the raspberries. They seem to know that if I lift up the raspberry branches, it makes their work easier. But how did they know where I was sitting and would be able to see them flying around?
日曜日（9月26日）に目撃した事はいまだに信じられません。
午前中オマハ市内で用事を済ませた後、昼食を摂っていると、窓外で二匹の蜂が盛んに飛び交っています。最初はスズメバチが軒下に巣を作っているらしいとあまり気に留めないでいたのですが、細いスズメバチにしては体が丸く、飛行パターンも違っていると思った瞬間、気づきました。あっ、マルハナ蜂！私の注意を引いている！
実は前日（9月25日）ラスベリー収穫をしませんでした。持病の腰痛と、たまたま受けたインフルエンザ予防接種のせいか気乗りせず、翌26日もぐずぐずしていたところです。
ここ十年あまりラスベリーを収穫しています。収穫を始めると必ずどこからかマルハナ蜂が飛んで来て花蜜を吸います。実がなって頭を垂れている枝を引き出すのを待っているようです。それにしても、マルハナ蜂がどうして私のいる所を知っていたのか、そして飛び交っている様子に気が付くわかっていたのか、いまだに信じられません。
