When I was in Odaiba, I got to see this EXTRA large model of Gundam, the star of an old japanese anime series. I’m not sure why they decided to make this but I thought it was awesome. Every hour, the Gundam would turn his head and shoot steam from his body, garnering huge excitement from the crowd. It was definitely something that you don’t see everyday.

The autumn tide breaks
on ancient chert that spans
two hundred million years.

*Chert is a geological term referring to a family of rocks including flint.
These rocks are notable for their ability to preserve fossils.

My Guest

I am a little excited for my first guest to arrive. He is my aunt’s boyfriend. He is a merchant marine and arrives in Honolulu’s port at four. He needs a place to crash for the night and I am happy to offer my place as there is plenty of room. I am curious as how he will like Hawaii and what he would like to do this evening?

Working in Japan

Over the summer, I had the unique opportunity to intern at a Japanese company to gain some international work experience. The company that I worked at was called NEO Club KK. They provide many different services such as making customized t-shirts, planning weddings, and making travel arrangements. The part that I became most familiar with was the t-shirt customization aspect. This was a great business in Tokyo mainly because there are so many potential customers. There are many different markets that you can choose to target but my company basically focused on college students. They decided that they wanted to provide customized clothing for the thousands of college clubs in Tokyo. I thought it was a great idea because there is always going to be business year after year. It was really interesting learning about the differences and similarities in Japanese and American business practices.

Dr.Yoko Kelley

Bohemian Cafe
