なにげなく台所の戸棚の上の方を見ると、そこにパスタ用の大きなボールがひとつと蓋付きの土鍋が２つ並んでいます。これらの容器は、このアパートに引っ越してきてから2年半の間、一度も使ったことが無かったことに気がつきました。ダメだ、ダメだ、物を貯めないと自分に約束していたことを忘れていた。　早速、3つの容器を流しに下ろして清潔に洗い、Goodwill（慈善団体の一つ）にもって行き寄付しました。Goodwillに行くと、いつも寄付の受付を待つ車が2，3台停まっています。寄付をする度に、「頭と箸は使いよう」の文句が浮かびます。私にはいらなくなった物でも、他の人にはおおいに役に立つのならまことに結構なことです。

家から徒歩3分ぐらいの所にあるスターマーケットが月曜日に閉店した。ところが在庫が結構残っているので、営業を延長して店じまいセールをしていた。何と全商品75％引き！早速今朝消耗品であるシャンプー（3本）、歯磨き粉（2本）、ティッシュ（1箱）を購入した。合計で7ドルぐらいだった。明日11月5日（木）が店じまいセールの最終日となっているので、近所の人は是非行ってみて下さい。長年お世話になったスターマーケットが無くなるのはやはり寂しいので記念写真を撮っておいた。

So a few months ago, I went on a trip to Japan for a couple months and I let my parents use my truck while I was gone. When I came back, I was sad to learn that my truck was out of commission because of engine trouble. Right now its in the process of getting fixed but I’m scared to see how much its going to cost. In the meantime my parents are letting me use their car to get around.

This past weekend, I was driving back home from work and stopped at a 7 11 on the way. But when I got back in the car, it  wouldn’t start. I guess the battery was on its last leg and I had to get a jump from somebody to get home. “Great,” I thought, “just what I needed… more car trouble.” The next day I went to Sears to get a new battery which all together cost bout $150. It always amazes me how much we depend on cars and the amount of money we spend on them.

I think I might start taking the bus… haha

We did not do anything Saturday night. It was Halloween, and we had planned to go to a haunted house or something but didn’t. Instead we went to go see a movie and came home afterwards. The night was still early so we decided to wait for trick-o-treaters that never came. I blame it on our location. We are at the end of a road in some obscure corner of the apartment buildings where no one can see much. I would be scared to come to our house at night if I didn’t already know who lived there. The moonlight was nice.
