Believe it or not, winter is here. The first clue was when daylight saving time ended across the United States. The second indication came when Mom texted to say that the first snow of the year fell today. Then, a friend wrote to say that her coworker got in a car wreck so we should all be more careful on the roads. In reply, I couldn’t help but write back that I completely empathize with this sentiment. After all, it is so hard to deal with winter driving in Hawaii with the sun always in your face. I mean, it beats down on you, gets in your eyes, and can be really disconcerting. I added that sometimes it even rains which can really be a problem since the giant rainbows that materialize are so distracting. I don’t think that my sentiments were welcomed. I guess some people just don’t appreciate good, old fashioned snow and ice.

Yesterday I did something that made me feel very manly. I would’ve have blogged about it yesterday, but I wanted to show everyone a picture of Mike Lawry because I think he’s a very hadsome fellow. 🙂 So what did I do that was so manly? Well, you should know, I am not skilled at anything mechanical or that requires tools. So again you wonder what did I do? I switched the left tail light on my motorcycle. Not really that manly at all. I laugh at myself just thinking about it. 🙂

雪のお話です。私の故郷は、サンディエゴ市の中心部にあるリンダビスタです。ここには、雪は降りません。しかし、車で、２時間ほど行ったところにある、ロサンゼルスでは、遠くの山の上に、雪を見ることができます。私は、１５才の時、初めて雪を見ました。ロサンゼルスから、２時間ほどドライブし、サンバーナーディーノ山の山頂まで行った時のことです。山頂には、ホテルやレストランがありました。私は、山頂で、スノーボードをしました。ところで、ここには、「黄色い雪は食べるな」という標識があります。ここの人も、皆が、黄色い雪は食べるなと言います。半分、ジョークです。鹿や人間、そして、犬のおしっこのあとが、色々なところにあります。注意が必要です。

I’d like to introduce you to Mike Lawry. He is the youngest of my three cats. He’s actually still a kitten and often very curious. But what’s interesting is whenever I decide to study, which is very often, he chooses to relax exactly on the desk on which I am studying. Sprawled out on all my paperwork. It’s okay though. I enjoy his company. 🙂

パールホワイトのかわいい愛車。
が。
真っ黒。
あわわ、よく汚れている。
もうすぐ長旅にも出るし、洗車してあげよう。

最近、ガソリンスタンドで洗車してもらってたので気づかなかったけど、
洗いながら自分の車を細かく見ると、小さいけどたくさん傷が付いている～。とれない汚れも。

いつもありがとね～、おまえは本当にかわいいやつだな～と言いながら洗ってあげて、すっきり。
しかし天気予報、分かっちゃいたけど明日は雨。また汚れちゃうね…。

昨日は踏ん張りました。

ようやく重たい足が動いて、
一歩出せた気がします。

今日は新温泉町の文化祭でした。
何年振りかに参加してきました。

私のおばちゃんが出ているというお芝居を見に行きました。
毎年恒例になっているようで、みんな楽しみにしている様子。
そう言ったって、ある地域住民でやってる「素人さん」の集まりやから～～と思ってたら、
これがなんとまぁ、めっちゃうまい！セリフもアドリブも上手ーー、と圧巻でした。
特におばちゃんはセリフもカンペキ、フォローもカンペキ、アドリブもおもろいときた。
かっこいい～～。客席にもたくさん笑いがおこりました。
いや～あんなに楽しませられるなんてすごいですね！
