今日は海さんが遊びに来ました。

「海さん、いらっしゃい！」
「ベランダの前には緑の草地がありますから、涼風を運んでくれるんです！」
などと、私が宣伝するので、海さんが大笑いしました！！

先週末、主人が自宅の庭でBBQをしてくれました。日本にいたときは全く馴染みがなかったBBQですが、ハワイに来てからBBQパーティに招待されることが多く、本当にこちらの人はBBQが好きなんだなと感じています。
この日、主人はビーフとチキンを焼いてくれましたが、どちらも美味しかったです。主人お手製のソースも格別でした。:)

As time passes life changes. When I was younger I experienced four seasons, Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring. There have been changes, since I was young, in the weather. Now I experience more winter and fall with very little summer and spring.

When I was younger, I use to play on the slides and swings at the playground, play football with my buddies in the park, walk with my girlfriend at night at the peer. Now-a-days, children and young adults can’t do much of anything without having to look over their shoulders every five minutes to make sure they aren’t the next kidnapping victim or target for murder.

When I was younger I use to watch cartoons and television shows that made sense, that was appropriate for a young viewer, that my parents didn’t have to block. Today, parents are afraid to let their children sit in front of a television or computer by themselves, afraid that they will get hooked on pornography and killing.

Sone things change, some things don’t. One thing that I’ve noticed that hasn’t changed much is racism. When I was young, I couldn’t walk down a certain street or I’d be beaten up. I would be teased at school because of the color of my skin. I had to keep my face from bus windows because our school bus would be stoned. I would be called names other than my own. Policemen would try to hurt my friends and I because we weren’t the same color as them. Today, we still haven’t gotten past crimes of race.

People of all colors and races are suffering from racism. Not only is there a lack of regard for animals, there’s also a lack of regard for humans. Just as animals are precious, so are humans. Just as animals have a right to freedom, so do humans. Sure, we all make mistakes. But isn’t it time we start to love? Racism is a destructive force that kills everything in it’s path. Not just the body, but the spirit and a hope.

Question. What are we going to do about it.

今日は暑いですが、時折、涼しい風が吹き抜けます。
きょうは　あついですが、ときおり、すずしいかぜが ふきぬけます。

旗も気持ちよさそうに、はためいています。
はたも　きもちよさそうに、はためいています。

I sometimes forget how much Aleria is growing. She is not only getting taller but also learning new ways to explore the world around her. For example, she learned early on that she can climb on top of things to get to other things. It wasn’t much of a problem before but as she grows her
reach gets longer.

I should have not been surprised when I walked in the bedroom a week ago to find my eye makeup on the floor. Aleria had climbed on the night stand, grabbed the eye shadow, and spilled it on the carpet. She had selected the darkest colors of the set and spilled them on the beige carpet. I tried to clean it but only made it worse. The vacuum smeared the colors everywhere. I tried using foam cleaner. That made some spots lighter; however, the darker spots are still there. I’m not sure what I’m going to do to get it out. Who knows how many hours it will take and how much it will cost to clean up. One thing I do know is I will be very careful next time about what I leave laying around the house. My little artist is waiting to produce her next masterpiece, and I would much rather have her art work on paper instead of cleaning it up off the floor.

今日は仕事中、視界の端に何かが横切るのを何度か感じました。
でも何もない…

お盆が近いから、みんな帰ってきているのかな…

ただの飛蚊症かな…

お盆は、ご先祖様を祀る行事です。
この時期に、何度か不思議な体験をしたことがあります。
でもいつも、ちっともこわくないのです。
懐かしい感じがするだけです。

サムさんがインターネットのチェックをしてくださいました。
技術的なことのよくわからない私は、ただ傍で見ているだけでした。

「これでもっとスピードが速くなります。」
「このコンピューターでスカイプのビデオも使えるようになりました。」
「スカイプのプロファイル写真も撮りましょう。カメラに向かって！」と、
コンピューターの設定をいろいろとしてくれました。

サムさん、ありがとうございます。
来週からスカイプレッスンを更に充実させていきます。

サムさんが、富士山に登ってきました。富士山５合目を午後7時に出発したそうです。しかし、９合目あたりで雨になり、下りてきたのは、午前３時頃だったそうです。下山した後、温泉にゆっくり入り、日本の風情を満喫出来たと楽しそうでした。私は、世界遺産に登録された富士山の記念品を買って来てくれと頼んでいたのですが、忘れずに買ってきてくれました。ありがとう。
