夕方、近所の道をぐるっと、１時間ほど歩き回りました。

初めての道を探検するのは、いくつになってもわくわくします！

大きな木の下で写真を撮って戻ってくると、沈む前の太陽が大きく輝いていました。

月刊料理雑誌「Bon Appetit]をめくっていると Japanese-Style Seasoning Saltとのレシピーを見付けました。何かしらんと読んでみると、この雑誌のキッチンで製作した七味唐辛子で、材料も手元にある物で間に合いそうなので、物は試しにと作ってみました。日本で買った薬研掘の七味唐辛子は冷蔵庫で後生大事に保存しているのですが、毎回少量しか使わないのがたたって、実は賞味期間を過ぎてしまっています。勿論、アジアンマーケットに行けば容器に入ったのが手に入りますが、それも新鮮な味がするかどうか自信がなく買わずにいました。

Shichimi Togarashi
材料 　焼き海苔　　　　　　１枚半　細かくくだく （ 1 1/2 toasted crumbled nori sheets）
　　　　いりごま　　　　　　カップ1/4 （1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds）
レモン　　　　　　　２個 皮をおろす（finely grated zest of 2 lemons）
　　　　粗塩　　　　　　　　大さじ１ （1 Tbsp kosher salt）
　　　　煎った四川花椒　　　大さじ１（1 Tbsp toasted Sichuan peppercorns)
　　　　生姜（粉末）　　　　小さじ２ (2 tsp ground ginger)
　　　　パプリカ　　　　　　小さじ２ (2 tsp paprika)
　　　　煎ったポッピーの種　小さじ２ (2 tsp toasted white or black poppy seeds)
　　　　唐辛子粉　　　　　　ひとつまみ (a large pinch of cayenne pepper)

Food processorを使って混ぜますが、余り細かい粉末にしないように (Pulse to a uniform spce blend but not to a powder)。密封容器に入れ室温に保存する(Store airtight at room temperature)。

全て半量にして作ってみました。七味唐辛子の味は山椒あってのものですが、そこは四川花椒でなんとかおぎなっています。焼き海苔とレモンの皮のすりおろしが新鮮さに欠かせません。

Last Wednesday, I went to a Chicago Cubs game with some friends. The seats we had we’re in left field and they were awesome. There must have been at least 5 home runs that landed right near where I was sitting. Something interesting I noticed is that if an opposing team hit a home run, the fans throw the ball back onto the field. I wasn’t surprised though seeing that Cub fans are among the most loyal fans in baseball. Hopefully I’ll get to go to another one before the season is done.

植え床の半分を占領していたキュウリを取り除き、茄子とピーマンが残りました。
混雑ぶりは相変わらずですが、風通しは良くなりました。

毎朝、ひんやりした空気を思い切り吸って、
小一時間、歩くと、気分は爽快です。
そして、下の垂れ幕を眺めると、不思議と元気が出てきます。

今日は、サムさんと海さんと彩さんが集まりました。
インターネットによるナコスのネットワークについてお話ししました。

海さんがサムさんに新しい試みを提案してくれたり、
ホノルルでナコスを守っているチェイさんともスカイプで歓談したりして、
外の曇り空とはうらはらに、ご覧のように、みんなのお顔は晴れでした。

It’s been a while since I submitted a blog. I always have trouble signing in for some reason.

I just past my two year mark living in Key West, Florida. I have two more years to go, then I can move somewhere else. Not sure where I want to go next, but I’m thinking a big city somewhere.

Since being in Key West, I’ve been keeping myself occupied with different activities, online classes, bike riding, paddleboarding and other things. The weather down here is mostly hot and humid constantly, even at night there is no cooling down.

My favorite activity is paddleboarding and I try to get out whenever I can.
