Sitting on airplanes these days is very uncomfortable. The airlines have reduced seating space in order to make more money by seating more people together. As a result, there is much less room and everyone feels crowded. The lack of personal space is very uncomfortable.

　最近、飛行機の座席の座り心地が非常に悪いと感じます。航空会社は、一つ一つの座席のスペースを狭くし、沢山、人を詰め込むことで、より多くの利益を生み出そうとしています。ですから、座席が非常に狭くなり、混み合った感じがします。個人的な空間が十分でないので、非常に居心地が悪いです。

時の針進めて戻せ春と秋
とき の はり　すすめて もどせ　はる と あき

In order to increase the amount of daylight during the day, people change the time twice a year. This happens once in the spring and once in the fall. In the spring, the time is set one hour ahead. In the fall, the time is set one hour behind. This practice follows the rule of “spring forward, fall back.” This rhyme is kind of like an advertisement jingle or “rock” song. Resetting time also implies a possible change in the condition of this “rock” or the earth that people live on.

　アメリカでは、日照時間の変化によって、年に二回、時間の変更を行ないます。
春に一回、そして、秋に一回です。春には、時計を一時間、進めます。そして、秋には、一時間、遅らせます。この習慣は、”spring forward, fall back.”「飛び出して、元に戻る」と云う掛け言葉で覚えます。この掛け言葉の調子は、ロックミュージックやコマーシャルソングのような感じです。時間を変化させることは、私達が住んでいる地球の条件を変える可能性を意味しているのかも知れません。

Every so often, trains break the stillness of the night in Kansas during their transit. Passing trains usually signal their passage by blowing a horn. In addition, the train’s headlight will break out of the darkness of the surrounding forest. The light can be seen shining brightly through the window.

閃光や森の鉄道いま通過
せんこうや　もりのてつどう　いまつうか

時おり、カンザスを通過する列車が、夜の静寂（しじま）を破ります。列車が通過する時は、いつも、警笛を鳴らすことで知らせてくれます。また、列車の前照灯の光が、周りの森の暗闇から抜け出して来ます。列車の発する光は、我が家の窓越しに明るく輝いて見えます。
