タッタッタ悪夢と化して叫び声
たったった　あくむ と かして　さけびごえ

After I got married in Hawaii my wife and I moved to Japan. For the first year or so we had an apartment in Tokyo but our dive store was in the Kanagawa prefecture in the city of Hadano. Hadano is in the country and I always thought it was in a very beautiful spot. The mountains were close and I short 30 minute drive and you could be at the ocean. For a little over a year my wife and I would drive to and from work back to Tokyo and when it was just me I would take the train. My wife hates the train but Japan was the first place I ever road a train so I really enjoy riding trains.
We rented a very small house after about a year. It was in a group of about 4 houses on the edge of a giant rice field! It was a very old and simple house. In the winter it would be so cold in the house you could probably go outside and be warmer! The worst part of the house was that in the spring, summer and fall there were huge spiders that came in from the fields. I hate spiders! One time at night while I was sleeping one went across my face and I screamed like a little girl!! I refused to sleep there and instead slept on the floor of the dive store!
I have many wonderful memories of my time there and if I ever become a rich man I will spend at least half of the year in Hawaii and the other half in the Izu Penninsula!

　神奈川県の秦野に住んでいた時のお話です。私はハワイで結婚した後、日本へ引っ越しました。妻と経営するダイブショップは、神奈川県の秦野市にありました。しかし、最初の約一年は、東京のアパートで暮らしました。秦野は、田舎町ですが、いつも大変美しい所だと思っていました。山が間近に迫り、３０分足らずのドライブで海に行くことが出来ました。一年と少しの間、私一人の時は、電車を使い、妻と二人の時は、車で、東京の自宅と秦野の店の間を行き来しました。妻は電車が大嫌いだったからです。しかし、私は、日本の電車は最高だと思っていたので、電車利用を大いに楽しみました。およそ一年後、私達は小さな家を借りました。それは、大きな田んぼの端に建つ、四軒棟続きの住宅でした。その家は、非常に古くて、簡素な家でした。冬、家の中は、大変寒く、外にいる方が、暖かかったかも知れません。この家の最悪な点は、春と夏、そして、秋に、大きな蜘蛛が、田んぼから家の中に入って来ることでした。私は、蜘蛛が大嫌いです。一度、夜、私が寝ている時、蜘蛛が、私の顔の上を這っていました。私は、少女のように叫び声をあげました。私は家で寝るのをやめて、ダイブショップの床で寝ることにしました。秦野時代は、素晴らしい思い出がたくさんあります。もし、私がお金持ちになったら、少なくとも、一年の半分は、ハワイで、後半分は、伊豆半島で過ごしたいと思っています。

菜の花で有名な二宮というところで撮ったものです。
もうすぐ春。このような景色が待ち遠しいですね！

頬染めて弾ける笑顔雪遊び
ほお そめて　はじける えがお　ゆきあそび

This is a snow story that happened in February 2011. I received three picture messages from family back in San Antonio. Something happened there that had not happen since about 1985. It snowed. I can only imagine how excited the kids were to stay home from school and play in the snow. Sadly the snow melted when the sun finally showed itself at daybreak, but it will still be a special day in the memories of many happy children.
　
　雪のお話です。２０１１年２月のことです。テキサス州南部のサンアントニオに住む、私の家族から、３枚の写真と手紙をもらいました。手紙には、１９８５年以来、一度も起こったことのないことが起こったと、書いてありました。サンアントニオに、雪が降ったのです。テキサス州南部では、雪が降ることは、滅多にありません。学校は、休みになり、雪と遊ぶ子供たちの興奮した顔が、目に浮かびました。残念ながら、夜が明けて、太陽が昇って来ると、雪は溶けてしまったようです。しかし、子供達にとって、心に残る、特別な日になったと思います。

Swallow Falls State Park near Oakland, on the western side of Maryland. I made a little snowman and gave him sticks for arms and rocks for eyes. I had a lot of fun! The waterfall was almost completely frozen.
