The sunset from Waikiki beach is very different from the mainland. In the mainland the sun always sets in the same place. However, in Hawaii the sun walks across the ocean. Depending on the season, the sun sets in front of you or behind the mountains. If you’re in Hawaii long enough you can watch the sun walk back and forth. In the summer the sunsets over the waters of Waikiki. The sky changes from Blue to Orange, green, red, and purple. The clouds change from white to red. The water turns dark with orange highlights in the waves. Everyday many people gather to watch the sunset. It never disappoints.

　ワイキキビーチの日没は、アメリカ本土のそれとは非常に異なります。本土では太陽はいつも同じ場所に沈みます。しかし、ハワイの太陽は海を横切ります。季節によって、太陽はワイキキの海、あるいは、山の後ろに沈みます。もし、ハワイに長く滞在すれば、太陽が行ったり来たりするのを見ることができます。夏、夕日はワイキキの海に沈みます。空は、青からオレンジ、緑、赤、紫に変わり、雲は、白から赤に変わります。海面は暗くなり、波は、オレンジ色に輝きます。毎日、日没を見るために多くの人が集まります。期待を裏切られることはありません。

It is the beginning of April. Finally, it feels like spring is slowly approaching. Everywhere the snow has melted. Thankfully, the water from the flooding has receded. Although flowers are not blooming yet, there is evidence of fresh buds on the trees. People are also starting to go outside again.

　四月になりました。ようやく春が、ゆっくり近づいているように感じます。降り積もった雪はすべて溶けました。有難いことに、洪水の水も引きました。花はまだ咲いていませんが、木々には、あちこちで新鮮なつぼみが出始めています。人も、また、再び、屋外での活動を始めます。

I drove to Houston to see my older brother and father. From San Antonio it took about 3 hours by car. It was just me and the kids. Andrew had to work so he didn’t go. My brother made a special dinner just for me. It was delicious. Then my father took my kids and me to a park where the kids ran around and played until they tired out. It was a very fun trip, but it tired me out. I was exhausted by the end and ready to come home.

　私は兄と父に会いに、ヒューストンに行きました。ヒューストンは、サンアントニオから車で約３時間のところにあります。主人は仕事があったので、私は子供三人と、四人で行きました。兄は、私のために特別な夕食を作ってくれました。本当においしかったです。父は、公園に連れて行ってくれました。子供たちは、走り回って、ヘトヘトになるまで遊びました。とても楽しい旅でした。しかし、サンアントニオの自宅に戻る頃には、私は、ぐったりしました。
