川柳について

私の経験から、川柳について、少しお話しします。川柳は、語彙（ごい）をたくさん持っていることが大切なことです。揶揄（やゆ）や、比喩（ひゆ）をするのは、よしとされています。ユーモアがあれば、風刺（ふうし）や、からかいの言葉が入っていてもよいのです。調子が良ければ二十字以内で、句、読点はなく、棒読みで言って十七文字が正常とされています。しかし調子さえ良ければよいというものではありません。ただ事実の羅列（られつ）をするのでは面白くありません。小説も文芸。うそばかりです。川柳も文芸ですからね。うそが入っていてもかまわないのです。そして、大切なことは、推敲を何度もすることです。 Ikuko

Dr.Yoko Kelley ネブラスカ便り１０９

泰山鳴動して. . . この一週間余りテレビの天気予報で『大雪が降ります、大雪が降ります』と繰り返し繰り返し聞かされ、ネブラスカで雪が降るのは初めてでもあるまいしと、いささかうんざりしていました。今日の昼頃、やっと雪が降り始めやれやれです。犬のヌービーは半分ハスキーの為か雪が大好きで、かなり雪が積もった３年前は庭の雪の小山に頭から飛び込んでいました。今日の雪は８−１１インチ（２０−２８センチ）積もるとの予想で、頭から飛び込むのは無理でしょうが、出来る限り長く雪と遊ぶ事が出来るようにと、雪が３時間降り続いた後に、ショベルで雪を集め、山肌を固めておきました。雪が午後いっぱい降ればかなりの高さになるのではと期待しています。
