RAMEN RISING ラーメン上昇中

「Bon Appetit」という月刊の料理雑誌の２月号が届きました。この雑誌は料理器店でフライパンかなにか買ったときに一年間無料購読サーサービスでついてきたのですが、毎月そうするようにまず表紙をはがして、中身から宣伝のページを取り除き料理記事だけにしていると、「これは？　ラーメンでは？」と一瞬にしてわかる写真が目に入りました。記事のタイトルは「RAMEN RISING」ラーメン上昇中とでもいうのでしょうか。ラーメンはハワイではもうすっかりおなじみですし、テレビの料理チャネルでは米国内各地の人気ラーメンを放映していますから、いまさらラーメンを紹介する事もなかろう、と記事を読んでみますと、ひとしきりラーメンのおいしさを述べた後、日本でラーメン修業したニューヨーク出身のシェフが、今春ニューヨークにもどって本格的なラーメン屋を開店するという内容です。ニューヨークで開店する事がニュースなのか、アメリカ人がラーメン屋を始めるのがニュースなのか今一つはっきりしません。なにはともあれ、インスタントラーメンしか知らない人に生ラーメンを味わってもらうのは大賛成です。

久々のおせち料理

日本行きの格安チケット（何とサーチャージを含めて往復＄598！）が出たので、家族3人で2012年12月28日から2013年1月3日まで日本に帰省し、久々に実家でおせち料理をいただきました。昔は家で作っていましたが、ここ数年はよそで買って来るそうです。大晦日の午後6時頃にデパートの地下で写真の重箱3つを買いに行きました。この時間になると割引きになるのでかなりお得です。しかし時間がギリギリですので、もし売り切れになっていると、おせち無しでのお正月を過ごすというリスクもあります。
