Dr.Yoko Kelley

What most of all Nebraskans are excited about is every, single movement of the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s football team. “The Cornhuskers” is the team’s nickname, which is also the state’s nickname. The team’s fans behave just like fans of pro-baseball teams or soccer teams in Japan, or high school football teams in Hawaii. Because the Huskers have not been doing well in this season, the fans are not happy, to say the least. Then, in October, the team lost, big time, to a team which was regarded as weak (i. e., low in the division, 116th out of 119th!). The fans exploded. The University of Nebraska’s chancellor himself had to appear in the media to announce the firing of the athletic director! To be frank, I was not much interested in the sports scene, but was forced to pay attention to what was going on because all day, the only news you heard was about the Huskers. I learned that the wins and losses of the local college football team could not be ignored. Obviously, the local economy is affected greatly by that.

Yoga

I have never really had an interest in yoga. However, one of my friends is really passionate about yoga and encourages me to try. I really don’t have the time right now, but I think I would try yoga if I did. It seems like a good way to relieve stress.

bad memory

A couple of years ago, I bought my car from a nice man who said he needed to get something more practical — he told me he was going to buy a BMW so he could drive his mother around, since she was moving here from the mainland.

Anyway, I few months after I got my car, I was driving on the highway and someone got in the lane next to me and matched my speed so he could see in through my passenger window. He honked, so I looked over, and then he grinned and waved. I was too surprised to do anything other than give him a shocked look and then look away. He stuck around for a couple more seconds, then got off the freeway.

Of course, a few minutes later it dawned on me that the man in the car had been driving a BMW and was probably the man who sold me my car! I felt awful because he was probably excited to see his old car on the road and just wanted to say hi. I’m sorry, Mr. Former-Owner-Of-My-Car!

Graffiti Removed

The other day, my cousin came over to help me remove the graffiti off of my wall. It was pretty effective, most if not all the graffiti is gone. He used a combination of a solvent and a high pressure washer to remove it. I was glad that it was removed but now I am worried the next it might happen again. I will either plant some bushes in front of my wall or I might even install a camera in the area. Or I might do a combination of the both.

blinky with the high beams

When I first started driving, I didn’t know how to turn on the high beams, but it didn’t really matter since we hardly ever have to use them in Hawaii. :>

One night, I was driving behind another car, and it was only us on the two-lane road. I accidentally knocked into one of the bars by my steering wheel, and I saw a little blue light appear on the dashboard that I’d never seen before. I figured out how to get the little blue light to go away, but I didn’t know what it was for. I turned it on and off a couple more times, but still had no idea what the blue light meant. Then, for some reason, the car in front of me got over to the right lane, let me pass him, got back into the left lane, and then tailgated me.

I was totally confused about why the driver did that… until I realized a couple of minutes later that I had been flashing my high beams at him, and that made him grouchy because he probably thought I should have just passed him on the right if I really wanted to go faster. Oops! 😀
