Janel-san came to Zengyo, and we talked about various things. And then we took a walk to Shirahata-jinja Shrine. I talked with Endo-san and he wrote goshuin book for Janel-san. It was a relaxing time.

黒い岩海の王冠コナハワイ

My favorite beach diving spot in all of the islands is a place called Two Steps that is on the Island of Hawaii and is about a 45 minute drive from the city of Kona. It got its name from the natural formation of the rocks going into the ocean that look like two steps. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. There are some houses and also some original Hawaiian settlements there that serve as a type of museum. The ocean is very beautiful and the coral is very healthy and because of the usual calmness of the ocean there is a very large reef system. There are many kinds of fish, dolphins and a beautiful black rock and black sand beach. The rocks are never slippery even when they are wet. To me, for all of the beautiful beaches the Hawaiian Islands have to offer Two Steps is my favorite.
私にとって、ハワイの島々の中で、一番きれいなビーチダイビングスポットは、ハワイ島の通称ツーステップというビーチです。車で、ハワイ島のコナから４５分位です。海に突き出た溶岩の形が、海へ下りられるように二段の階段になっていることから、そのような名前になりました。景色は文句なしに美しいです。自然のなかに家が点在していますし、ハワイの古民家もあり、歴史館の役割をしています。海はとても綺麗でサンゴ礁がよく育っています。ほとんどの日は穏やかな状態ですから非常に大きなサンゴ礁が形成されています。魚の種類は多く、イルカもよく現れます。美しい黒い岩と黒い砂のビーチです。岩は濡れていても滑りません。ハワイの島々には綺麗なビーチがたくさんありますが、ツーステップビーチは私にとって最高のビーチです。

ブリスベンから約１時間半、トゥーンバに引っ越しました。
コロナ禍の影響で、家探しに６週間もかかったそうです。
長男夫婦が住んでいるグレーター ブリスベンの近くです。

Last month I relocated from Sydney to Toowoomba which is about 90 mins west of Brisbane to be closer to my eldest son Jai who is in Greater Brisbane.

I went to the Fujisawa Ukiyo-e Museum. Tsujido is the first stop from JR Fujisawa station.

一ヶ月前、真夏のひとり遊びを投稿しました。
一貫して黒鍵を使い、指の筋力が上がっています。
脳も刺激されて夏の暑さに負けませんでした。

Fiddler under the roof is practicing the piano on very hot days. Schubert-impromptu number 3 needs black keys consistently, so my finger muscle strength is increasing.

しばしハワイにいる気分になりました。
I went to Enoshima for a walk and ate lunch. I felt like I was in Hawaii.

庭の友蝶々の敵カーデｲナル
にわ の とも ちょうちょう の てき カーディナル
Ever since we witnessed the scene where cardinals were eating fat caterpillars, I have tried several ways to protect the caterpillars from cardinals. Butterflies lay eggs on parsley, and caterpillars grow by eating parsley. I cover the parsley patches with wire nettings so that cardinals can’t peck at the caterpillars. Some areas of the parsley patches are left uncovered so that butterflies may lay more eggs. Caterpillars are completely defenseless, and the number of butterflies is said to be decreasing. These are the excuses that I use to combat cardinals. But, cardinals are very clever, and they are also precious in gardens. I tell them, or rather to myself, that I will feed them well during winter, so leave the caterpillars alone in Summer.
カーディナルが丸々と太った蝶々の幼虫（caterpillar) を食べるのを目撃して以来、幼虫達をカーディナルから守る手段をあれこれ考案してみました。蝶々はパセリの葉の上に産卵し、幼虫はパセリを食べて成長しますから、金網でパセリを覆いカーディナルの嘴が幼虫に届かない工夫をしてみました。パセリを全て覆ってしまうと、蝶々の産卵する場も奪う事になりますから、幼虫のいる場所だけを覆ってみました。幼虫は全く無防備で、かつ、蝶々の数が減少している現在、カーディナルに辛抱してもらっているわけですが、カーディナルもなかなか賢く、油断できません。庭に来る小鳥の中でも真っ赤なカーディナルは貴重です。冬季にはちゃんと餌をあげるからと、カーディナルに、というより自らに言い聞かせています。
