藤田慶子さんの家でお茶をしました。色々な話に花が咲いて楽しく充実した時間でした。慶子さんの作品で私のお気に入りは、木に焼きを入れた上品な質感のある「焼き絵」。繊細で温もりのある観音像、童話の中のような少女像。デニーズではタブレットでの注文が難しくダメダメのポーズです。
I had afternoon tea time at Fujita-san’s house and we had lots of interesting conversation. She designed and created these works of art. It has an elegant texture and is made by engraving wood. I love it. At a restaurant, ordering on a tablet was difficult for us, so I did a no-no pose.

２０２３年の干支は兎。今夜は十五夜。これは亡き義母が作った七宝焼の兎です。生前にもらった小さなものの一つ。トミお母さんは趣味が多く、私が京都に住んでいた時は、良き知恵を教わったり、私がピアノを教えてあげて発表会に出たり、一緒に外出したりしてたくさんの思い出があります。兎は、物事の移行をしていく段階、向上の意味があるそうです。私も明るく新しい生活を作っています。（京都 中村修三＆美智子 両親）
My late mother-in-law made this cloisonne rabbit. This is one of the small things she gave me. The rabbit has the meaning of the stage of transition and improvement. I am also creating a bright new life. (Kyoto Shuzo&Michiko Nakamura)

すぐここにクジラ到来待ち望む
すぐここに くじら とうらい まちのぞむ
Even though the whales are about 3 months from coming back to Hawaii, all the other boat captains and staff are really looking forward to seeing them again. It is always nice to see the dolphins, turtles and even the occasional monk seal the main event of the year has to be whale watching season. When the whales are seen breaching and spouting it is almost magical and the Customers are very happy and the staff are also very happy to see them. So I eagerly await there return!
ハワイの海に鯨が戻ってくるのは約三か月後なのに、ホエールウォッチングの船長やスタッフ一同は、また鯨に会えるのを待ち望んでいます。イルカ、亀、また時折、モンクアザラシが現れるのは勿論嬉しいことですが、やはり毎年の一番の楽しみはホエールウオッチングの季節です。鯨が水面から飛び上がって潮を吹く様子はまるで魔法のようで見ごたえがあります。お客様も船のスタッフも凄く喜びます。ですから私は鯨が帰ってくるのを心待ちしています。

夫の若い頃の趣味はヴァイオリンと馬でした。私は指導者でお弟子さんたちの発表会での写真。この時は主人も参加して二重奏をしました。２つ目の写真、馬に乗っているのは５５年位前だと思います。同志社の学生時代に所属していた馬術部で撮影されたものです。（京都 中村修三 &美智子）
My husband’s hobbies were playing the violin and horseback riding. I’m a violin teacher, so my students performed. At this time, he also participated and enjoyed duet with me. I was invited to Pal-san’s house. I picked summer vegetables from their garden, and Kishore-san and Kakoli-san cooked them deliciously. I’m also looking forward to harvesting autumn vegetables.

harvest of raspberries
listening squirrels
right behind
木の実つむリスの挨拶聞きながら
きのみ つむ りす の あいさつ ききながら
Every morning I go out to the yard and harvest raspberries. This morning, I heard scratchy noises behind me around a maple tree. Avoiding to scare the source of the noise, I quietly looked behind and saw two squirrels jumping up and down, completely ignoring my presence. When I resumed the harvesting, the squirrels continued to ignore me.Right now, these squirrels are busily eating sunflower seeds.
木いちご収穫に庭に出ると、背後の楓の木の辺りに何やらゴソゴソと音がします。脅かさないようにとゆっくり首を回してみると、リスが２匹盛んに飛び跳ねしていて、私の存在などは全く無視。それならばと、木いちご収穫に戻ると、案の定、リスの無視は続きます。目下、リス達はひまわりの種をむしるのに忙しそうです。

ハワイ州政府に勤務しているナコスファミリーのスコットさんが、二週間の休暇を取って家族と日本に来ています。今日は長女のかすみちゃんを連れて善行に来てくれました。スコットさんと色々な話をしている間、かすみちゃんは元気いっぱいでした。
Scott-san took a vacation and came to Japan from Hawaii. Today, he came to Zengyo to see me with his daughter, Kasumi-chan. We talked a lot. Kasumi-chan is an energetic little girl.
