Thanksgiving was a very enjoyable time as always. My husband and I had a nice little meal here at home just the two of us. On Friday, a friend and I went shopping. We spent the entire day at different stores looking at all the sales. We bought a couple of items, but I tried to stay within budget and only buy what I needed to buy. The sales were great but man were the crowds crazy. There were lines everywhere. My friend had wanted to buy a laptop and she did. I didn’t think we could get to the stores in time to get one because everyone wanted the same item, but somehow we did. We finished all our shopping in the early afternoon. I went home exhausted after the busy day. I won’t be doing another one of those for a long time.

 満月の翌日は朝から雨になりました。雨は一日中、激しくもならず、しとしとと静かに降っています。薄日もすっかり雲に覆われました。夕刻、ショーソンのポエムを練習したい気分になりました。

Every once in a while, I’ll pick a new song to play on the piano. It’s been a while since I’ve taken lessons but I know enough to read music and play. The song that I picked recently was Gymnopedie by Erik Satie. I don’t know why but I always feel more relaxed after I play. It’s kind of like meditation for me… haha Whenever I feel stressed out or need something to calm down, I just play and for that short time, I’m at peace. I  think that music is something that should be a part of everyone’s life.

私は月が好きです。今夜の月にはポエムがありました。

フランスのショーソンが作曲したヴァイオリンと管弦楽のための音楽に、「ポエム」というのがあります。日本名では「詩曲」とも呼ばれています。幻想的でたいへん美しい曲です。この月を見て、明日、ポエムを練習したくなりました。

何気なくベランダを見るとでっかい鳥が柵の上にとまっています。

物音ひとつ立てずに現れたので、生き物がそこにいるとわかるまでちょっと時間がかかりました。それもガラス窓のすぐ外側で、写真に取ってくださいといわんばかり。昨年もこの時期に現れましたから、おそらくこのあたりは、この鷹一族のなわばりなのでしょう。

鷹は瑞兆と言われていますから、まずはおめでたいことです。

動かぬ岩の　向こう側に　ヨットが

左から　右へ　水平線を　辿っていきます。

料理の本などには、「一度に使い切れない場合は冷凍にしましょう」とあり、無駄にしたくないと思えばやはり冷凍することになります。そうすると、いつのまにか冷凍庫は満杯の状態。ところが、その解決策を書いた本には余りお目にかかりません。

先日、豚肉の胡麻まぶしを料理して、「これだ！」　早速、冷凍庫を塞いでいる鶏肉とまぐろを、同じ要領で下味をつけ胡麻をたっぷりまぶして揚げました。冷凍独特の味も消えなかなか美味。

「千夜一夜物語」に出てくる「開け胡麻」の作者もきっと胡麻好きなんでしょうね。

積読（つんどく）だけでなく切り抜きも好きなので物は溜まる一方。
それでも時たま、愉快な記事に出くわすのが楽しみです。

以下の文は、３年前の記事で、当時の文部科学相は、
「日本のカルチャーとヒストリーを十分マスターし、ビューティフルジャパニーズランゲージを話せること。その後で、フォーリンランゲージをマスターする」と小学校での英語教育に否定的な考えを展開した、とあります。

眼は、チカチカ、頭痛もしてくる、カタカナ英語なしではしゃべれないかどうか、漢字にしてみますと、「日本の文化と歴史を十分習得し、美しい日本語が話せること。その後で外国語を習得する」となり、眼も頭も痛くならないと思うのですが。

I came across this quote by James Dean a while back and its been kind of a personal philosophy for me:

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today”

This is actually a lot easier said than done but I still try to abide by it. I think life is too short to not live everyday to the fullest and to have big dreams for yourself. Reading this quote helps me keep on striving for something better and giving everyday my best shot. I guess James Dean was a pretty deep dude.. haha
