Today, Kishore-san came to Zengyo after work, and he spoke in Japanese and I listened to it. The important thing is that we can progress even if we are tired.

Even though I really liked living in Tokyo, at times the city could be somewhat cold and since there were so many big buildings and all the traffic and people. It was hard to tell the seasonal changes except for the temperature change. Leaving the very robust and exciting Shinjuku station, I only needed about a ninety minute train ride and I was in Hadano. Leaving the station I was immediately welcomed by a nice quiet river, much smaller and simpler buildings set farther apart. With summer coming one could see the flower petals on the banks of the river and the air was filled with the cries of the cicadas and the heat of the summer had settled like a blanket over the town. I will always remember that scene of leaving the station.
私は東京生活が大好きでした。しかし、時に、東京の町に冷たさを感じることがありました。大きなビルが立ち並び、交通渋滞があちこちで発生し、人であふれていたからです。東京に住んでいると、気温の変化は分かっても、季節の移り変わりを感じることはできません。活気に満ちた新宿駅を後にして、９０分ほど電車に揺られると秦野に着きます。そして、秦野駅を出ると、すぐに、ゆったり流れる素敵な川の出迎えを受けます。建物は、東京と比べて地味で小さく、建物と建物の間には適度な間隔がありました。夏が来ると、川の土手には、色とりどりの花びらが舞い散ります。そして、蝉の声が鳴り響きます。秦野の町は蒸し暑く、町全体が毛布でおおわれているかのようでした。秦野駅を一歩外へ出た時の風景は、生涯、忘れることはないと思います。

２５年ほど前に、秦野でダイビングの店を経営していました。
向かいの店は、渡辺さんの経営する衣料品店でした。
渡辺稔代さんが撮影した今の水無川です。
今日は日曜日です。キショールさんが善行に来ました。
小話の読み込みを聞いて、漢字の書き方もチェックしました。
キショールさんは出張中も、毎日少しずつ努力しました。
バングラデシュのお土産は、綺麗なシルクのスカーフです！
Kishore-san returned to Japan from his business trip, and he came to Zengyo today. He spoke his short stories enthusiastically. He likes to write kanji as well. Thank you for bringing a beautiful scarf from Bangladesh for me!

今日は、中島さんに会いに、鎌倉に行ってきました。
美貴代さんは、裏千家の茶道教授をしています。
浄明寺ハイランドにあるお茶室で、美しい和服姿で、
優しい語り口で、ていねいに茶道を教えていました。
私も、しばし、日本の伝統文化に身を置いて、楽しみました。
そのあと、散策しながら、鎌倉駅まで歩いて戻りました。
静寂と運動。良いバランスでした。
I went to Kamakura to meet Nakajima-san today. She is teaching Japanese tea ceremony, so I enjoyed Japanese traditional culture for a while in a tea-ceremony room. After that, I walked to Kamakura station. Well balanced!

今日からキショールさんがバングラデシュに出張します。
留守の間、カコリさんが何か困った時、心配しないように、
緊急時に役立つ日本語を、少しだけ教えてあげました。
そして、カコリさんの手料理をごちそうになりました。
赤ほうれん草のレシピも教わりました。栄養たっぷりです。
Kishore-san will go to Bangladesh for a short business trip. Today, I taught some short phrases in Japanese to Kakoli-san at their house. It will be useful in case of emergency. And, Kakoli-san made delicious Bangladesh home cooking for us. She taught me how to cook red spinach. It’s a nutritious food.

今日は、サムさんとエリーちゃんと藤沢駅で待ち合わせて、
向山さんの家へ、楽器を見せてもらいに行きました。
彫刻家である向山武志さんは、音楽愛好者でもあります。
私達は、制作中の作品や、彫刻の道具を見せてもらったり、
いろいろな楽器を弾いて、楽しい時間を過ごしました。
また一緒に演奏しましょう！
Today, we walked from Fujisawa station and visited Mukoyama-san’s house. He is a sculptor and he loves music too. Mukoyama-san is collecting many stringed instruments, so we played music together. We had an enjoyable time!

二つ目は、関東大震災に関する小冊子です。
著者の小山田知子さん自らの説明をお聞きして、
嬉しいひとときでした。
９月１３日から、貴重な資料が展示されます。
くじら館は、小田急線長後駅から徒歩５分です。
The other one is a booklet which is related to the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. I listened to the author, Ms. Tomoko Oyamada. Thank you for sharing the impressive story!

小田急電車に乗って、長後まで行ってきました。
「湘南くじら館」のオーナーに会うためです。
お二人のお書きになった本を手に入れることができました。
一つ目は、「坂の上の図書館」です。
著者の池田純子さんの署名もいただいて感激です。
I took Odakyu Line and went to Chogo in order to meet the owners of Shonan Kujira-kan gallery. I bought two books from two authors directly. One book is “Library up a hill”, written by Ms. Junko Ikeda, Yumiru Ikeda is her pen name. I’m very glad because there is her handwritten autograph!

そのあと、善行のご近所さん、藤田さんの家に行きました。
藤田さん達は、色々な作物を育て、収穫しています。
敷地内の珍しい物や、植物を見せていただいてから、
細野さんは、農業の基本と重要なポイントを教えてあげました。
And then, we went to Fujita-san’s house in our neighborhood. We saw many interesting things in their property. They grow many plants, so Hosono-san taught about agriculture to them. We had a good time. Thank you very much!

藤沢駅で昼食をともにしたあと、細野さんが善行に来ました。
ハワイへのスカイプでは、海好きの細野さんがジムさんと会話して、
電縁仲間（でんえん なかま）が繋がっていきました。
After we ate lunch at Fujisawa station, Hosono-san came to Zengyo with us. We did skype with Jim-san in Hawaii and we had a good conversation.
