In theory I can use my cellphone to send e-mails.  I’ve recieved e-mails on it so it stands to reason that I should be able to send them as well.  But after a week of messing with my phone, I still have not even the faintess clue how to do it.  Glad technology has made my life "easier".  I think I might move to Turkey; no e-mail or text messaging there.     Hello everyone!!!  I am still in Truck Driving School the job is not that easy.  It is really hard to drive those big trucks it’s even harder for me because i had never driven a stick shift before starting the course but i’m coming along.  I have three more weeks of test and driving and i will be a trucker if i can pass all of my test that is.  I’m studying really hard.

今日の午後、ホノルルにあるShriners Hospital（シュライナーズ子供病院）でヴァイオリンコンサートをしました。今回の曲目は、リストの「愛の夢」、ドヴォルジャークの「Songs my Mother Taught me」、グルックの「メロディー」などを含め１０曲。演奏の間におしゃべりを入れながら、みんなで大きな声で日本語のミニレッスンもしました。セラピストの方々もご協力ありがとう！子供たちもたくさんの拍手と笑い声をありがとう！

そして夜。ハワイ大学のOrvis Auditorium へ、Hawaii Music Teachers Association主催のコンサートを聴きに行きました。

Castro夫妻の情熱的な人生がうかがえるようなピアノ演奏、Marty Reganさんの風に舞うような尺八サウンド、そして友人Sheryl Shohetさんのヴァイオリンも流れるようなシャコンヌのヴァリエーションを聴かせてくれました。演奏会後はホールの表に用意されたお食事を頂きながらのおしゃべり。
 
きょうは、演奏する者と聴く者が一緒になれた２つのコンサートでした。美智子

突然、プリンターが電源と入れると狂ったように紙をどんどん送り出すようになり、その様子は、ディズニー映画「ファンテジア」のなかの「魔法使いの弟子」で、無数のほうきがどんどん水を運ぶ場面と全く変らず。修理店をはじめ、あちこち問い合わせても原因不明のままですが、今朝、たまたま聞いたラジオの音楽番組で、「魔法使いの弟子」の起源ははるか昔のエジプトにありと知りました。６千年、いえ、７千年たっても、人類は同じ問題に悩まされているわけですね。 Continue reading →

 Now that the mid-term election is over, I pay close attention to whose signs are left standing on the roadside.  I am also interested in hearing speeches made by losers.  Winners’  speeches are the pretty much the same, but the losers’ speeches vary .  Some losers blame it on the national political trend, and others refuse to acknowledge the loss.  I like it best when the candidates say " People of (name of each state) spoke their mind.  I respect that."   I think that is the spirit of democracy.
