米本土で普通手に入るナスはフットボールを小さくしたような米ナス。細長い和ナスに比べると大味で、どうもナス独特の苦みと香りがありません。 最初に住んだアイダホ州で和ナスを植えてみましたが、春先の雪にやられて失敗。次に住んだネブラスカ州の東北の町では和ナスの苗が手に入らず、オマハ市に移ってやっと１９年目に再び和ナスを育てる機会がめぐってきました。 園芸店で見付けた苗を余り期待せずに植えてみましたら、なんとか実がなってきました。 さて、何時　収穫するかが問題です。

昨日は日本酒サミットというイベントに参加しました。 横浜赤レンガ倉庫にて、昼間から日本酒を飲みました。 2時間の間に約50近くある酒蔵の日本酒たちを飲み比べ。 普段あまり流通していない酒や、高くて気軽に飲めないお酒も、 たくさん飲むことができて、満足の一日でした。 フロアを埋め尽くす人々 こんな感じで試飲し放題 全国からいろんな酒蔵の日本酒がきていました。

日本のビールでは、やはり札幌黒ラベルがおいしいと思うのです。 プレミアムモルツもおいしいですが。 なにより、冷やした薄口グラスで飲むビールもおいしいです。 ちょっとした贅沢におすすめ、薄口グラス。 明日は、「日本酒サミット」というイベントに参加予定。 今日は前夜祭として、自宅で一人で乾杯！
