One of the nice things about my job driving the glass bottom boat is the beautiful scenery that I get to see every day and how it changes every hour. There is of course the ocean and the mountains but also the sky has some beautiful cloud formations that change constantly during the day and the seasons of the year have no affect on them. The cloud formations always change no matter what season it is. I am always surprised on how the sky changes so quickly between tours. 

　ガラス底の船の仕事をしていると楽しいことは色々あります。毎日、船上から目にする美しい景色と、その景色が刻々変化するのを楽しむのもその一つです。勿論、目にするものとして、海と山があります。しかし、空には季節に関係なく、絶えず変化する美しい雲の姿があります。私は、ツアーとツアーの合間に空の姿がこんなにも早く変わってしまうことにいつも驚きます。

吹き上げた鯨の母子また会おう
ふきあげた　くじら の ははこ　また あおう

The whale watching season is now over in Hawaii. Usually the whale watching tour companies stop their advertising on April 20. Even though there are still whales here they are not enough to have a tour. I had gone about two weeks without seeing any whales and then on the last day of April I saw a Mother and her calf on 3 different tours! It was like the last goodbye from the whales until the end of November!　

　ハワイのホエールウォッチングのシーズンは終わりました。ホエールウォッチングを行なっている会社は、４月２０日に広告をやめます。クジラは、まだ、いますが、確実に現れるかどうか分からないので、ツアーを行なうことはできません。私は、約2週間クジラを見ませんでした。４月の最終日に３回ツアーを行ないましたが、私は、お母さんと赤ちゃんクジラを見つけました。１１月下旬に、また、来ます、それまで、「さようなら」と言っているようでした。

today is the day
my second shot awaits

２回目のワクチン注射安堵感
に かいめ の　ワクチン ちゅうしゃ　あんど かん

Today was my second Covid-19 vaccination shot. Since it was my second shot I was in a much smaller group than before. I waited in line with only two other people. This time I was told that the second shot was stronger than the first one and that I may feel tired or have flue like symptoms for a day or so. So far I feel just fine although my arm is just a little sore. I will know tomorrow but even if I do feel sick or tired for a day I am still glad that I got my two shots.

　今日は、２回目のコビッド ワクチン接種の日でした。２回目だったので人数はずっと少なかったです。私は、他の２人の人と３人で順番を待ちました。看護師さんが二回目の注射は少し強いですから、一両日、倦怠感を感じたり、インフルエンザのような症状が出るかも知れませんと言っていました。今のところ、問題ありませんが、腕に少し痛みを感じます。明日になれば、疲れを感じるか、インフルエンザにかかったような感じになるか分かります。しかし、どちらにしても、予防接種を終えてほっとしています。

Covid-19 shot

期待するワクチン注射列で待つ

This week, I was finally able to start my Covid-19 vaccine shots. According to the news, there have been over 1 million Hawaiian residents that have received their vaccination shots. I was able to make an appointment very quickly as there were many locations available. Along with hospitals there are supermarket and store chains here that offer the vaccine shots in their Pharmacy department. I decided to go to one of the store Pharmacies. I waited in line with about 6 other people who were very quiet and seemed very nervous. Although I was a little nervous, the shot was not painful at all. Since I regularly give blood platelets, the shot process was very easy. Other than my arm being a little sore there has been no other problems. My next shot will be in 3 weeks and I am looking forward to having the whole process finished.

　今週、ようやく、新型コロナの予防接種２回のうち１回目を済ませました。ニュースによると、ハワイの住民は、すでに、１００万人以上が予防接種を受けたそうです。ハワイでは予防接種のできるところがたくさんあります。ですから、すぐに予約は取れます。病院に加えて、薬局、また、薬局部門のあるスーパーマーケットでも出来ます。私は薬局でやることにしました。６人の人と並んで待ちました。みなさん大変静かで緊張しているようでした。私も少し緊張しましたが、まったく痛くなかったです。私は普段から献血していますから、予防接種の手順は簡単だったと思います。腕に少し痛みを覚えただけで、何の問題もありませんでした。３週間後に２回目の注射を受けます。全てのプロセスが終わるのを心待ちにしています。
