珊瑚礁見回る魚コナの海
さんごしょう　みまわる さかな　コナ の うみ

Recently I went to Kona on the island of Hawaii for a scuba diving job. In the area of Kona the ocean is almost always very calm which means that there is much more coral than on any of the other islands. The waters are almost always very clear and along with the beautiful coral there is always an abundance of many types of fish. There are some fish that are regularly found in the Koan waters but very rare on the other islands. I am always very happy to get the chance to dive in Kona.  　

　最近、私はスキューバダイビングの仕事でハワイ島のコナへ行きました。コナの海は、いつも穏やかです。つまり、他のどの島よりもはるかに多くのサンゴが生息しています。水は、澄んでいて、美しいサンゴと一緒にいろいろな種類の魚が豊富にいます。他の島では滅多に見られない魚をコナの海ではしょっちゅう見ることができます。コナでスキューバダイビングの仕事があれば、私はいつも幸せです。

Collaborative Haiku Poem – 虫の声

call of insect
lasts all morning
end of summer

虫の声昼なお響く夏の末
むし の こえ　ひる なお ひびく　なつ の すえ

The call of insects described in Japanese poems (waka) expresses the loneliness of Autumn at night, reflecting the poet’s own unhappiness. Alas, the call of insects in this area is very loud, starts before dark and lasts all morning. It is far from the loneliness of Autumn!
As the cicada chorus is still going on, it is noisy all day.

　和歌に出てくる虫の声は秋の寂しさを表現し、それも夕暮れ時、もしくは暗い夜に聞こえる一匹の虫の声に、我が身をなぞらえたものが多いようです。ところが、この辺りの虫の声は多勢が一斉に鳴き、それも午前中いっぱい続く有様で、秋の寂しさを求めるのは到底無理です。夏から秋への季節の変わり目には、蝉時雨もまだ続いているので、虫の声を一日中聞くことになります。

without a sound
Covid sweeps across the land
sparing nobody

災いや雨ない嵐いつ終わる
わざわい や　あめ ない あらし　いつ おわる

激情な雨ない嵐コビッドだ

感染の雨ない嵐吹きすさぶ
かんせん の　あめ ない あらし　ふき すさぶ

The Covid 19 cases continue to rise in Hawaii and starting on September 13 anybody going into stores, restaurants and other areas of business will have to either have proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test result that was taken within 48 hours. The Governor has continued to ask people not to come to Hawaii unless it is business related. The new rules will be in effect for 60 days. The Governor has also been asking people not to come to Hawaii unless it is for business until the end of October. With the Labor day weekend coming up the Governor has asked everybody in Hawaii to not have parties or go to the beach. There is a possibility of a 72 hour lock down.

　Covid 19の症例はハワイで増え続けており、9月13日以降、店舗やレストラン、その他、営業しているところに入る人は、ワクチン接種証明の提示か、４８時間以内のコビッドテスト陰性結果の提示が必要です。この新しいルールは60日間有効です。知事はまた、10月末まで営業目的でない限りハワイに来ないように求めてきました。今週末はレイバーデーの祝日です。知事は、パーティーをしたり、ビーチや公園にも遊びに行かないでと呼びかけています。今週末、72時間のロックダウンの可能性があります。
