We enjoyed our recent visit to Hawaii so much! The time seemed slow and relaxed. Just what we needed. The trip home was much the same. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time and the flight was uneventful. Cian and Mason are pretty good travelers in general. They know how to do it because they have had a lot of experience in their short lives. That is one aspect of having been born in Hawaii I think. They are now children who live in two really different worlds. I want that to continue for them, so that they don’t loose their connection to Hawaii.
I don’t have any of the newest pictures downloaded yet, but will find a couple of photos to share soon.

I’m in the Coast Guard and really enjoy my job. My last assignment was mostly law enforcement and drug interdiction, it was exciting and I’m glad I did it, but really glad its over. My current assignment is as a Search and Rescue coordinator and this is what I really enjoy, helping people in distress.
Just recently, I worked a case involving 3 people missing off an island down by Majuro Atoll. They were missing for 2 days before the family contacted the Coast Guard. We launched an airplane from Honolulu and I worked up a search pattern for plane to search. It did take a while for the plane to arrive at the island, rest and refuel, but they found the people drifting in their boat within an hour of searching, which is unbelievable considering the size of the area they went missing, the amount time they were missing and the unpredictable currents. They were thirsty and exhausted, but otherwise okay.
At times its slow and nothing is happening, but other times it gets so busy that you will find yourself doing five things at once. The best part is when you find out that everybody involved is safe. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case, but I still cannot think of anything else that I would rather do than this.
I wanted to add a picture, but I can’t find anything at the moment.
I am always bare-footed and wear sandals.

Spring Break is next week and I am so excited. I have no plans officially yet, but wouldn’t mind just sitting around at the beach and doing nothing. This semester for me has been exhausting at times.
Malachi is a freshman at HPA(Hawaii Preparatory Academy) in Waimea. He enjoyed playing soccer on the Varsity team this year. They made it to the state Tournament but were not able to place. He is continuing his love for soccer by playing for a soccer club, “Hawaii Volcanoes”. We are very proud of him. He was awarded “Rookie of the Year” for this sport.
