Right bus wrong stop

Today, On my way to my nacos interview I go on the bus to follow the instructions i received from the bus operator.  I though that i had to go to a hotel to change to the 2 or the 13 so that i could come to the bus stop by nacos.  I didn’t see an hotel on the bus route so i got off at the mall and i tried to look for the 2 and 13 there i couldn’t find them so i went back to the bus i rode to get to the mall and asked the driver i he could put me out where i could get on the 2 or 13 imagine my surprise when the bus driver told me to get off at hotel st.  I felt so stupid.  I got on the 13 which was packed found my correct stop and made it to the interview on time so everything turned out well….

I think Hotmail doesn’t like it

Michiko-san,

I don't think Hotmail displays Japanese text very well -- your last message
was all garbled. Maybe I'll be able to read it if you put the Japanese text
in an attachment! Were you able to read my attachment in the last email?
I've included it again, just in case.

妹は芸術家

My sister is an artiste!

Parents are really hard to buy presents for… I think only grandparents top them in toughness-of-gift-buying.

Since we couldn’t think of anything to buy for my parents’ anniversary present, my sister and I decided to paint plates for them. We went to a specialty store near Waikiki called Fire It Up, and at that store, you buy unpainted bisqueware and paint it right there.  The store provides the paint, and they bake it for you.  Continue reading →

The land of money grabbers

Every time I go to Japan, I’ve been impressed with the transportation system. I think that everything is Japan is expensive, but I think the trains, subways, and busses in Japan are especially expensive. Most of the train stations route maps are in roomaji or English, but some are in Kanji only. My wife went to an international school in Japan, but she can’t read kanji very well, and I can only read hiragana. This is always a problem when we travel in Japan. Every time we wanted to go somewhere we would just guess what the fare was going to be. After having several embarrassing moments at the train station exit, we just started going straight to the fare adjustment window. Continue reading →

Tokyo short stories (Tenboudai Story)

At the top of the Tokyo Municipal Government First Building, there is an observation deck.  On the observation deck, there’s a cafe, a souvenir shop, interactive displays, and best of all, it’s free.  You can see the city in all directions.  Tokyo is so big, I couldn’t see the edge of the city. Imagine all the people living in such an area.  So many different lives.  I bet all the stories ever written are being acted out there.  There’s heroes, villians, angels, and monsters.  Each of them knowingly and unknowinglyafftecting each other and the city itself.

I got the information below from a website.

Tokyo Municipal Government First Building, Northern and Southern Observatories

These huge observatories are on the 45th floor of the two towers (Northern and Southern). Café NORTH in the Northern observatory is a good stop for a break. Continue reading →

The Ugly Stik and The Sea

I have had a few hobbies over the years.  Baseball card collecting, weightlifting, fishing, drinking, and various other things.  The one I haven’t done in the longest time is fishing.  Not since I lost my "Ugly Stik".

Growing up, my family always went fishing.  I never really participated, though.  It wasn’t until they stopped that my interest began.  From then, I wanted an "Ugly Stik".  It was strong, but very flexible.  It was virtually indestructible.

One Christmas, I got enough money to buy one.  It was beautiful.  Because of its strength, I called it "Excalibur".  My friends and I went fishing every chance we got.  We fished for 24 hours straight once at four different places.  We fished on the lava rocks and cliffs.  We would often get covered by rough seas and lose equipment.  Night was scary because you couln’t tell the height of the water, even with a flashlight.
