 Search for a power ranger

I told my little brother that I would get him a Power Ranger for his birthday.  I looked for one for  two weeks and couldn’t find one.  So, I bought one on the internet and had it mailed to him.  The very next day I went to a bookstore and the first thing I saw was a big sale on Power Rangers.  I was very surprised.

The end of the year is always a special time for my family.  More so than Christmas or the Fourth of July.  It is usually the only time I go back to the Big Island.  Festivities begin with ‘mochi-tsuki’ on the morning of December 30th.  My grandmother washes and soaks the rice the night before.  Then we steam the rice over a fire in wooden boxes.  By 7:30am, the first batch of rice is ready to be pounded.  Two people mash the rice in the ‘usu’ with wooden mallets.  Once the rice is mashed together, one person pounds the rice with the wooden mallet while the other turns and adds water to the rice.  After that, the mochi is brought to a long table where everybody helps shape the mochi into little patties.  Some mochi have ‘an’, sweet bean paste, added to them.  Please see another family’s ‘mochi-tsuki’ experience. It’s very close to what we do.

This year, my resolution is to read mangas!  Usually, I fall asleep while studying Japanese.  But since reading mangas is fun, I’ll probably read a lot, and I won’t fall asleep.  Then I’ll be studying Japanese while reading mangas!

Also, asking Michiko-san and Shuzo-san manga questions is fun.  Since the characters use informal speech, Michiko-san and Shuzo-san laugh and tell me not to speak that way.

I served on a submarine once and, at first, the food wasn’t bad_in fact, it was actually pretty good. But as the weeks went on, our mission was extended beyond our food supply. As a result, the cooks aboard became quite creative. For example, they used brown sugar and hot water as a substitue for maple syrup. Yuck!!! The only meat onboard was ham, which I don’t like, and fish which I think was going bad. We also ran out of most of our condomints and sugar. Needless to say, I wasn’t too happy and wasn’t about to eat any of that crap. Luckily, they had an ungodly amount of hot dogs and baked beans, which I as don’t like but at least I could stomach it as oppose to the alternative. But eventually we got an end of mission message and pulled in. Continue reading →

初めて、自宅から日本語でタイプします。新しいプログラムは、簡単に使えると思います。

今朝（けさ）、足首の痛みが強く、仕事を休みました。そして、また病院（びょういん）へ行きました。今、足首にそえぎをしています。明日は、仕事に行く予定です。でも、行きたくないですね！　木曜日に、詳しいことをお話しします。に、話しましょう！

はじめて、じたく から にほんごでタイプします。あたらしいプログラムは、かんたんにつかえるとおもいます。

今週の火曜日、クラスを終え、帰宅する時、駐車場で、足首を捻挫しました。

少し段になっているところで、足を踏み外したのです。足首に激しい痛みを感じたのですが、車を置きっぱなしにするわけにもいかず、我慢して運転することにしました。しかし、帰宅後、痛みはだんだん強くなってきました。それで、昨日の夜、病院に行くことにしました。幸い、骨は大丈夫でしたが、車を運転することは出来ません。そんなわけで、今日、木曜日、クラスを欠席させて頂きます。今週は仕事も休むはめになりました。来週は、出席できると思います。
