墨と和紙の相性がよいと、上手下手に関係なく、字が生きてくれます。 今日の「あいうえお」は小躍りしました。

ここは、ホノルル中心部にあるクイーン病院です。 消火栓が壊れて、野次馬が見守る中、おまわりさんと消防士さんが奮闘していました。

あいうえお

新聞の料理欄に目を通していると、「アメリカでは日本酒（sake）愛好家がふえていて、ワイン並みにテイスティングの集まりがあちこちで開かれている」とのことです。日本酒はワインと比べて酸っぱ味が弱いので、柑橘味の魚、サラダにも良く合うなどは、アメリカ人ならではの評価です。紹介してある酒の名前の英語訳がなかなか凝っています。李白Wandering Poet、高砂Divine Droplets 、南部美人Southern Beauty、福兆Moon on the Water, 天の戸 Heaven’s Door,　里の誉れPride of the Village　といった具合ですが、名前のひとつにKanbara (Bride of the Fox-狐の嫁）とあります。漢字が思い当たりません。どなたかご教示ください。

ショーンさんとジャネッサさんが、１０日間の日本旅行から戻ってきました。 ショーンさんは八女市で英語教師をしていた時に経験した話を、 日本語の小話にして練習しています。 一つは、初めてクラゲを食べた次の日に、海で体中、クラゲに刺されたお話。 もう一つは、部屋のお風呂場に蛇が侵入した怖いお話です。 小話の福岡から、クラゲと八女茶をお土産にいただきました。

夫の膝痛、私の腕痛で整形外科を受診する日の前日、飼い犬のヌービーが左後足をかばっているのに気が付きました。人間年をとるとあちこちにきしみが生じるのはしかたがないと言っていたばかりでしたから、えー、ヌービーもぉ！とあきれるやら、おかしいやら。 ヌービーをなでながら「犬だってそうよねー」となぐさめました。人間組は朝８時に受診を済ませ、ヌービーは午後３時半の予約となりました。
