I made another recipe today. I boiled sweet potato chips and carrots. The ingredients are sweet potato chips, carrots, ginger, and water. I sprinkled cinnamon on top. (Michiko’s Randam Recipe)
Sanma (pacific saury) and komatsuna dish is ready. I’m making breakfast. I bought fresh, boneless saury yesterday. I fried the saury in olive oil, sprinkled boiled komatsuna with sesame seeds, and mixed them in a frying pan. Pacific saury off the coast of Hokkaido and Aomori Prefecture. (Michiko’s Randam Recipe)
I made simmered flounder. It’s my lunch today. The ingredients are flounder, ginger, carrots, and green peppers. The seasonings are balsamic vinegar, sugar beet oligosaccharides, tomato ketchup, sesame seeds, and water. The flounder’s bones were so hard I couldn’t cut it in half. My kitchen knife is ceramic, so I didn’t cut my fingers. (Michiko’s Randam Recipe)
This past week my wife and I got a new puppy from the Humane Society. She is a 3 month old puppy that was found abandoned. She is a beautiful little puppy and has so much energy and loves to bite my arms and hands. I have lots of bite marks all over me now because of her! She gets into everything and I can’t leave her alone for even a minute! I am looking forward to many years with her!
I hardly ever wear earrings these days. The ones in the photo above were remade into pendant head about 10 years ago. The one in the photo below was recently remade into a ring. I explained my idea to Ichikawa Jewelry Store and asked them to create a simple, fun design. It turned out to be a playful, original ring that makes me smile. It feels like my husband and I are standing side by side in heaven. My husband always used to say, “the two of us together, together.” (Michiko)
This is the 13th Yamaha drum lesson at Fujisawa Yurindo. The new song I’m practicing has a lot of variation in the fill-in rhythm. It’s interesting to experience the process of practicing until the different rhythms of the right hand, left hand, and right foot all come together comfortably. (Michiko)
I went to the dentist. This is a conversation I had with the dental hygienist. Me: “I have some receding gums, so I’m trying my best to brush and massage my teeth. What kind of toothbrush would be best?” Dental hygienist: “In your case, I think a soft, pointed, small toothbrush would be best. Hard toothbrushes will have the opposite effect. It’s best to brush your teeth slowly and take your time.” I bought this toothbrush. I’ll try to brush in moderation without overdoing it. (Michiko)
Spaghetti is ready! This is today’s lunch. It has pork, bell pepper, and eggplant. The seasonings are olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tomato ketchup, and a little salt. (Michiko)
This summer was exceptionally hot. I watched several free movies on YouTube, just picking them at random. One of them was the theme song from the 1990 film “Shonen Jidai” (Boyhood), a simple yet charming melody sung by Yosui Inoue. I’m going to try playing it on the violin. (Michiko)
The hot weather continues into September. Looking up, I saw the flowers gently swaying in the breeze. It is such a peaceful and heartwarming sight. (Michiko)
