スターケル兄弟をご紹介します。眼鏡をかけているのが２５歳のボー君、右に立っているのがまもなく１９歳のイアン君です。２人の間にもう一人、ベン君がいます。 ノーマンがノーフォークの小児科病院で働いていた頃に，患者さんとして時々診ていました。人口１６００人の小さな町の出身ですが、３人とも町の高校を卒業すると直ちに家を離れて、働きながら大学に行くという、アメリカの若者に特有の生き方をしています。 今日は、イアン君の高校卒業を祝って食事をし、メッセンジャーバッグとよぶ、ラップトップ（コンピューター）も運べるバッグをプレゼントしました。

今日は友人ナンシーさんの結婚式でした。 フランクリンさんとの出会いから結婚に至るまでのストーリーに、 会場は爆笑の渦でした。 こんなにも自然でやわらかな熟年ロマンスを見せていただくと、 こちらまで幸せになりますね。ナンシーさんフランクリンさん末永くお幸せに！！

  今をときめく「はにかみ王子」こと石川遼君がハワイにやってきました。２月８日から１０日まで、パールカントリークラブで行なわれたハワイパールオープンに出場し、１０位に入りました。地元紙のスポーツ面にも１千万ドルの契約金を獲得した１６歳のゴルファーと、写真入りで紹介されていました。娘が「生の遼君を見たい」と言うので、かみさんがゴルフ場まで連れて行くと、ちょうど遼君がコースを回り始めたばかりの時でラッキーでした。終わってからはサインと写真撮影に応じてくれました。さわやかなスマイルでした。

フィンランドの大作曲家シベリウスが、初作品が好評でなく意気消沈している若い作曲家に言いました。 「世界中どこを探しても、批評家の彫像を立てている町はないからな」 The great Finnish composer Siberius said to a young composer whose first symphony was not well received  “There is no town in the world which has critics’ statue.”         今朝、ラジオを聴いてて 耳にしました。
