今日は足の爪切りをしました。股関節の可動域が狭くなっているため普通の爪切りでは届かなくなり、一年前にこの爪切りに出会って買いました。右手と左手を持ち替えて使いながら、私なりの身体の捻じり方をみつけて、うまく出来るようになりました。何か出来なくなれば、出来る方法を発見するのは楽しいです。 ２０年少し前の事。「毎日新聞USA」ウェブサイトと「ハワイ・パシフィック・プレス」に、何気ない日常からテーマを拾ったエッセイ「Violin弾きのお美っちゃん」を連載していました。日々の可能性について書いたことがあります。以下は抜粋。 ・・・１０歳のある時「もしも病気か事故で右手が使えなくなったら左手で食べよう」と思いつき左手にお箸を持ってラーメンを食べた。その日以来お箸は左手を使っている。初めてお箸を左手に持つのに何の苦労もなかったので、もしかして元々両利きだったのかもしれない。「誰でもない。私自身が可能性を縛りつけていたのではないか」と思ったりする。・・・ Possibility. 冬の寒い日が続く今週です。室内を暖かくしていても指が硬くなりがちです。以前も書いたことがありますがそんな時の私なりの魔法。バッハのイギリス組曲第３番プレリュードを２、３回弾くことで指のこわばり感が取れます。ミニ練習ですが楽曲の内容を考えながら瞑想をするようなもので疲れるほど弾きません。（美智子） Magical Finger Warming. 目の治療をしてから細かい埃が以前より見えるようになりました。埃が見えるとこまめに掃除をします。リハビリにもなります。電気掃除機は不要です。（美智子） Since I received eye treatment, I can see fine dust better than before. When I see dust, I clean it up frequently. It’s also a form of rehabilitation. I don’t need a vacuum cleaner. (Michiko) ナコス湘南

お正月からこの二週間良いお天気に恵まれていますが、暖かい部屋から一歩外へ出ると強い風が吹いています。冷たい風が目に当たると涙が出てきます。そんな日の外出はゴーグルメガネを着用します。大病はしなくても微妙に弱い身ですから日々のミニ対策が必要。強風にはゴーグルメガネ、気管支喘息やアレルギーには予防薬、煙の場所を避ける。私なりの予防策です。（美智子） We’ve been blessed with good weather for the past two weeks since the New Year, but when I step outside from the warm room, a strong wind blows.
