番傘

Bangasa

This umbrella was made around 80 years ago. It’s called a Bangasa. Bangasa are made by spreading Japanese paper across bamboo supports, then pasting thick oilpaper over top. This picture was taken in the Zengyou area in a garden in Semimaru Antiques.

この傘は80年ほど前に作られたものです。番傘と云います。
太い竹の骨に和紙を張り、その上に厚めの油紙を張った雨傘です。
