この瓜はスパゲッテイ瓜と呼びますが、その名のとおり黄色の中味はスパゲッテイそっくりの紐状にほぐれます。食べ方は２つに割ってオーブンで焼いて、そのままバターを落としてたべたり、スパゲッテイの部分をスプーンでとり出して、好みの味付をします。

These squashes are called spaghetti squashes. As the name suggests, the yellow-colored inside comes apart in string like spaghetti. As for how to eat, they are baked in a oven. Then, you add butter or scoop out spaghetti part and add whatever you like.

お向かいのダンさんの知人のアイオワ州の農園でとれたました。トラックの荷台にいっぱいもらったが、夫婦二人ではとても食べきれないと、どさっと分けてもらいました。米本土内陸部には２０年間住んでいますが、いま居るオマハがこれまで住んだところでは一番都会的といえるのですが、不思議にも最も土に近い生活であるように感じます。

These squashes grew in an Iowa farm of a friend of our neighbor Dan-san, who gave us, saying he was given truck-load, more than he and his wife could consume. We’ve lived in the inland part of the mainland America for 20 years. Although Omaha where we reside now can be said to be the most city-like, we feel, strangely enough, that we live now closed to the land.
