轟音や闇夜を破る光の矢
ごうおん や　やみよ を やぶる　ひかり の や

The day the storm came to Oahu was actually very calm until around 7:00 in the evening. Suddenly there were torrential rains and for Hawaii a very rare thunder storm. The sky was like a fire works display as lightning was everywhere and the thunder was seemed so close and was very loud. At about 8:00 the lights flickered and went out and there was no more power until 2:00 in the morning! The only light was from the lightning. The next day everything was calm but the harbors were choked full of refuse from the storm.

　嵐がオアフ島を襲った日、実は、午後７時頃まで、大変穏やかな天気でした。しかし、その後、突然、猛烈な雨が降り出し、ハワイでは珍しく、雷が鳴り響きました。空一面、いたるところで、稲妻が走り、打ち上げ花火を見ている感じでした。そして、雷は間近で発生しているようで、音もうるさかったです。午後８時頃、家の電気がついたり、消えたりして、停電になりました。結局、午前２時頃まで停電は続きました。唯一の光は、稲妻の光でした。翌日、穏やかな日が戻ってきました。しかし、港は、嵐のせいで、ゴミの山になっていました。
