Tokyo

Tokyo is a city that I have passed through many times but never visited. I finally got a chance to vacation in Tokyo and could not have picked a better time. It was Sakura season which meant that cherry blossoms were blooming everywhere! There was so much pink and white around Tokyo that it almost looked like it had snowed. People were out in all of the parks to enjoy the weather and marvel at the rare sight of the beautiful cherry blossoms. The places with the most cherry blossoms were a park north of the Imperial Palace and another shrine just next door. People put mats and even newspapers on the ground to picnic and enjoy the view. In some places, food vendors even came out to sell all sorts of treats. The only thing able to steal my attention from the throngs of hanami and the marvelous sakura was watching the spectacle at Shibuya Crossing. The numerous pedestrians that cross the intersection in all directions every time the traffic light changes really are a sight to behold. I highly recommend sitting in the Starbucks above the intersection and watching as the crowds of people crash together and then somehow succeed in passing each other to cross the road.
