大阪の電車の駅周辺には、自転車を利用する人達のために、たいていは駐輪場があります。
そしてそこには必ず自転車をきれいに並べてくれるおっちゃん達がいます。
おっちゃん達は、仕事を定年で引退した方々です。
いつも挨拶してくれるし、帰りには、「お帰り！」とか、「寒いね」と声をかけてくれます。
わたしの勤務先は駅の近くなんですが、帰りが遅くなって暗くても、おっちゃん達の姿にホッとします。女性には心強い存在だと思います。
今日は、自転車のタイヤの空気を入れるのを手伝ってくれました。
引退してからも社会貢献してくださるなんて、素晴らしい方々です。
☆おっちゃん＝Occhan
中高年男性に対する、親しみを込めた呼び名。
英語でもそういう呼び方があるのでしょうか…

I think that if you are speaking with an older gentlemen that is helpful to you at someplace or sometime, in English you would say, “thank you Mister” or “thank you sir.” Unfortunately, I cannot think of a specific name for these men in English. You could refer to them as the “nice, old gentlemen” at some location (like a store or a train station).

It really depends on the person and situation. 人によりますね。
It depends on their clothes and how they look. If they seem to be a business professional or something like that I would use the word “sir” but if they are around my age group or younger I might use “bud” or “buddy” 相棒 but it could also depend on where live in this country. there all kinds of nice terms of affection used. hope that helps.

Here in Hawaii, some men or attendants are nice and some are grouchy. The nice one’s we refer to as uncle and the women are called auntie with love (Hawiian style). Depending on the background, if Filipino, Manang or Madame. This is a reference to endearment.

If you’re looking to learn a catch-all for the English language and play it safe, I would stick with “sir” or “ma’am”. Making some kind of reference to their age would probably be seen as rude in a lot of places.

なるほど。Misterは名前の前に付けるものだと思っていましたが、こんな使い方もあるのですね。
おっちゃんたちは、自分のことをおっちゃんということもありますので、日本、特に大阪独特の言い回しかもしれません。

確かに人やその時の場によりますよね。
私たちも、親しみやすい男性にしかおっちゃんという言葉は使いません。もし仕事中のビジネスマンに、「おっちゃん」と言ったら失礼になると思います。
buddyを使うのは初めて知りました。
buddyは日本では、スキューバダイビングをする人が使っているので、少し専門用語のような感じがしていました。

おっちゃんは、一人称（I）、二人称（you）、三人称(he)どれでも使えます。

’おっちゃん’も人や場合によって使い分けます。
’おっちゃん’を丁寧にした言い方は、’おじさん’ですが、それですら失礼になることがあります。
愛情や親しみを込めて呼びたいときにしか使いません。
また、いくら親しみを込めても’おじさん’は年上の人に対して使うので、若く思われたい男性に言うと失礼に思う人もいるかもしれません。
なので、人によっては、’お兄さん’と呼ぶこともあります。

文化の違いがあるのに、基本的に、皆さんは大体同じですね。別の文化を勉強すればするほど、私はそれを学ぶようになります。
In spite of their cultural differences, everyone is basically the same, aren’t they. The more I study other cultures, the more I am finding this to be true.
