I met up with Sam-san at Miyanaga-san’s cafe “day dream believer”, and we talked about various things such as NACOS website, music, travel and future plan. We had a good time.
I went to a Japanese antique shop called Semimaru and I talked with Baba-san in the garden. Cardiospermum halicacabum showed dignified appearance even after withering through hot summer days. I received some.
At karaoke room, my compact summer resort for practicing the violin, and I ate free takoyaki as a gift because I collected points. I practiced “Summer” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
The summer is slowly coming to an end and fortunately for all of us in Hawaii the tourism has returned but although the Japanese tourism has gotten much better the typical Japanese tourist is now spending a lot less than before the Pandemic. One of the problems is the dollar and yen exchange is very bad for the Japanese tourist so that by the time the Japanese tourist gets to Hawaii they have very little money left because of the exchange rate, plane and fuel consumption tax and the high cost of the hotels. So even though there are many Japanese tourists out shopping at the big shopping centers they are basically just window shopping.
I listen to Bach music when I get dressed in the morning or before going to sleep at night. At such times, I listen to piano or chamber orchestras rather than violin music. I like Glenn Gold, Andras Schiff and Pablo Casals.
I try to go out moderately even on hot days. I practiced the violin alone in a spacious karaoke room. It sounded good. When I got back home, it started raining and then stopped again.
Yellow sunflowers are one of summer symbols, and big green leaves also are attractive. Leaves of mammoth sunflowers we have in our yard are particularly big. Because of recent daily rain, the plants are growing steadily, now over ten feet tall. Green leaves are enormous. Unfortunately, rain doesn’t help flowering. Sunflowers may like drier weather.
Miyanaga-san is a chef who runs a cafe called “day dream believer” in Fujisawa. He likes to play basketball and he is a big fan of the American professional basketball team. So I gave this calendar to him. Dream Team is the Olympic basketball team. This is the calendar of the 1992 U.S.A. basketball team. My husband Shuzo had it in Hawaii and brought it back to Japan.
