理由は、色々あります。例えば、英国の雰囲気が好きです。英国人は、みんな、ゆったりした、気楽な気分が好きみたいです。例えば、殆どのレストランは、ランチタイムの後、ディナータイムまで、店を閉めます。私はこのシステムが本当に好きです。アメリカも、このシステムを取り入れるべきだと思います。英国の町並みも好きです。英国の町並みに歴史を感じます。静かな落ち着いた感じが好きです。英国では、みんな、英語を話します。彼らの話すことは、勿論、全部分かりました。英国人はアメリカ人が嫌いだと思っている人が多いかも知れません。しかし、英国で会った人が、「一度、英国に来れば、英国人がアメリカ人を好きだと言うことを実感出来る」と言っていました。全く、同感です。私が英国に行った時、まず、ドルをポンドに両替しようと思いました。そこで両替店に行きました。店の人は、今日はドルは安いと言いました。そこで、私は、「ブッシュ大統領を責めたい」と冗談を飛ばしました。店の人は、大賛成だと言って笑いました。英国人は、アメリカ人が好きだけれど、アメリカ政府は嫌いなのかも知れません。ところで、私の妻も一時、英国に住んでいたことがあります。彼女も英国が大好きです。私たちは、運命の糸で結ばれていたのかも知れません。

　フリーウェイでの出来事です。今日、フリーウェイを走っている時、気づいたことがありました。左車線を走る車が、全て、ノロノロ運転をしていました。それは、一番前の車が、ノロノロ運転をしていたからでした。運転のガイドラインによれば、左車線は、速い車の為の車線だと書いてあります。ノロノロ運転は、法律違反ではありませんが、マナー違反です。ハワイの人は、法律を守らない人が多いと思います。マナー違反は尚更です。マナー違反に対して、他の州の人達は、我慢しません。しかし、ハワイの人達は、黙って我慢しています。私は、そんなハワイの人達が好きです。ところで、ハワイの人達の運転技術はあまり高くないです。私は、今日、このような光景を見て、「左車線に愚かな人のいる日」と名づけました。 Freeway’s event.
