Aloha!

These pictures show a fish that I caught in late September. It is a 14 pound Chinook (King) salmon which tasted very good. We grilled the filets and nearly ate the whole fish in one sitting (there was 5 of us).  In one picture I am making a silly face and the other shows the fish on the cutting board in my firends back yard.

A blog from across the sea

Time has passed since my one and only blog and time to write again as much has changed. I still live near the sea but have changed jobs and looking towards a new future.  With my family greatly missed (but soon to be with again) and still in Hawaii it is not the best way to do things but there is much to like where I have found myself.

I am in a town called Bremerton which is West of Seatle, Washington. Though you can see the tops of Seatles sky scrapers it is far as water separates "us" from "them". Perhaps it is only 20 minutes by boat but at least an hour and a half by car.  When you think of the ocean and Hawaii you do think of boats but I have never seen so many people with boats since I have been here.  It is a boating culture and there is much from the sea that is good.

Shrimp, crab, salmon are all available and good to eat.  Catching your meals is all arranged in seasons that are regulated (different from Hawaii off shore fishing) so that people get togethere to celebrate each new season and each new catch. Right now crab and salmon are in season (some varieties of salmon) so that is what the stories are mostly about.

As for me, I have been on the water plenty but do not have enought fish stories to tell yet.  It is colder but still quite beautiful as bremerton is the "country" . My firends say that Mars is not too far away.

Until next time. And I’ll be back in Hawaii soon…Chad
