  最近、残業が増えています。去年の今頃も、そうでした。私の上司は、直接的な言い方をしません。例えば、「この仕事は、WTC です」と、間接的にプレッシャーをかけます。

　職場では、よく業界用語を使います。例えば、頭文字をとって、"WTC" などと言います。これは、"work till completly." を意味します。漢字のように、それぞれの文字に意味があります。

　きのう、私 の どうりょう（同僚） は、ボス に どなり（怒鳴り） ました。

だから、今日、どうりょう（同僚） と ボス と ほか（他）の二人 は ミーティング をしました。
どうりょう（同僚） と ボス は ぎろん（議論）しまし た。
ほか（他）の二人はそれを見ていました
あと（後）で、かれ（彼ら）は　どりょう（同僚） と ボス に アドバイスをしました。
しかし、けっきょく（結局）、かれら（彼ら） は ぜんぜん かわりませんでした。

I often wonder what mark I will leave on this world, if any.  Many people have lived without a memorable trace of their existence. This is not to say that these same people have not made a difference in the world we inhabit today.  We often get lost in the mass media, the crowds of people, and the loudness of things around us.  It is often said that it is hard to see the forest in the trees.  The opposite is also true.  How can I, just one tree, be noticed in this forest of plenty?

Trees bring to mind, the name Wangari Maathai. The forests in her country were in danger of being vanquished due to logging and other illegal activities.  Without the trees, women had to travel fifteen miles each way to get firewood.  And the river, once pristine, had now become a muddy flow. Her idea was simple.  Plant a tree for every tree taken.  With no hopes, other than to try and restore some of the beauty of the town she remembered in childhood, she planted the seeds for social change.  This woman, with a modest idea, became a Nobel Peace Prize winner.  And from people like her, I draw inspiration.  Tiny seeds can become large trees.  And simple ideas can Continue reading →

　先週、私は２７歳になりました。干支は馬です。土曜日、私は数人の友人と、リカドというレストランへ行きました。その後、酒屋さんへ行って、ビールを買って、私のアパートに戻りました。友人達と深夜まで飲みました。

　せんしゅう、わたし は ２７ さい に なりました。えと は うま です。どようび、わたし は すうにん の ゆうじん と、リカド という レストラン へ いきました。そのご、さかやさん へ いって、ビール を かって、わたし の アパート に もどりました。ゆうじんたち と しんや まで のみました。

namakemono banzai

Ever since I’ve started work 4 years ago, I’ve worked long hours.  I’ve put a lot of myself into work and it doesn’t feel worth it anymore.  I’ve lost interest.  I would rather study Japanese and learn something like wood sculpture.  I would like to know that I can go do what I want after work and have the weekends off.  Maybe I’m becoming lazier.  But to me, I’m not learning much about the world at work.  I want to understand more of the world through language and the arts.  This has been the struggle in me my entire life.  I’ve always had an interest in literature and art, but academically, I was good at mathematics and science.  Everyone always encouraged me to do something with math and science, and since sixth grade, I planned to become a mechanical engineer.  This helps to understand the world in one sense (the mind), but does nothing for the heart.  If I ever become famous, I would rather it be for art or humanitarian work, rather than helping build a better weapon.  So, “Banzai!” to being lazy. 　私のアパートはいつも蒸し暑いです。しかし、今晩は涼しくなりました。　今日は、一日中、強い風が吹いていました。いつ、秋は始りますか？　私はわかりません。

　わたし の アパート は いつも むしあつい です。しかし、こんばん は すずしく なりました。　きょう は、いちにちじゅう、つよい かぜ が ふいて いました。いつ、あき は はじりますか？　わたし は わかりません。
