Sometimes people do ridiculous things on the freeway!  Last week, I saw a guy riding a moped in the left shoulder lane on the freeway… and the fact that he was riding in the shoulder lane shows that he knew he wasn’t supposed to be there!  (Mopeds aren’t allowed on the freeway because they can usually only go up to 35 mph, and the speed limit is 40-50 mph.)

This morning, the right lane of the freeway was unusually slow, and I thought that some police people had pulled up behind a stalled car because saw blue flashy lights.  When I got closer, I saw that there were two motorcycle cops escorting an unkempt man who was pushing a shopping cart along the right side of the freeway! I signed up to make cupcakes for my office’s bake sale fundraiser, and I made the cupcakes last night, but I forgot to put in the baking soda!  When I checked on them in the oven, I was a little suprised that they weren’t rising — I didn’t realize that I’d forgotten the baking soda until I after I put the second batch in the oven.  Obviously, I didn’t bring my cupcake bricks to work today.  😀 Continue reading →

My Popo gave me a Chinese name that means "beautiful eyebrows," which is sort of funny, since my eyebrows are weirdly sparse and have a funny pointy shape.  But last night my sister was having fun with her tweezers and clippers, and she fixed them up for me!

I’m suuuper lucky that my sister knew what to do — girls with eyebrows like mine have to be careful when they go to salons, because sometimes those cosmetologists just throw up their hands, wax our eyebrows off completely, and tell us to draw them back in.  😀

Since I’m getting married next year, I finally have to grow up and look for an apartment.  >_<  I’ve only been looking at pictures on a realty website so far, but it seems like the pretty apartments that I can afford all only have one parking space!  Don’t you think that trying to snag one of the free guest parking spots would be too stressful to deal with everyday?

My sister just moved into her new apartment, and sheś been having fun buying cute, cheap things to put in it.  Last week, she found a pretty leaf-shaped dish at the Salvation Army, and then she went to Savers (another consignment store) and found two more matching dishes!  Lucky! 　昨日、車で帰宅途中、フロントガラスの上に何かがくっついていることに気付きました。それは必死になってガラスにしがみついている、小さな可愛いゲッコでした！　家に着くまでに、まだ２８キロはありました。しかも、高速道路を走っていました。私はゲッコに、もちこたえて欲しかったので、出きる限りゆっくり運転しました。
 
　高速では、私達はうまくやったと思っていたのですが、出口まであと1．７キロにさしかかった所で道路はカーブし、ゲッコは横風を受けて吹き飛ばされてしまったようです。かわいそうなゲッコ！
 
When I was driving home yesterday, I noticed something on my windshield — it was a teeny tiny gecko hanging on for dear life!  I was still about fifteen miles away from home and I was on the freeway, but I was hoping the gecko could make it, so I slowed down as much as I could.  Continue reading →
