足かせで水中バレエ甲羅干し
あしかせで　すいちゅうバレエ　こうらぼし

When coming to one of the many beaches that turtles can be found at, it is always a special sight to see the brownish green shells sticking up from the sand. Getting closer to the turtles the head and fins are soon visible. Watching them walking in the sand is in a way very tiring because they move so slow. I always want to help them because they seem like they can’t do it by themselves. The young and old turtles both move very slow. Once in the water even the oldest turtle becomes a thing of grace and beauty swimming so fast and effortlessly. It is as if it is a completely different animal.

　アオウミガメを見ることのできる浜辺に行って、砂から出ている茶色で緑の甲羅が見えたら、それは特別な光景です。亀に近づくと頭と足が見えます。亀が砂の上を歩く姿を見ていると、ほとほと疲れます。もの凄くゆっくり動くからです。亀を見ていると、私は、いつも手伝いたくなります。自力では、歩ききれないように思えるからです。若い亀と年寄りの亀、両方共とてもゆっくり動きます。しかし、一旦、海に入れば、一番年寄りの亀でも、上品で美しく、優雅になります。海の中では素早く動き、苦もなく泳ぎ回ります。随分違う動物のようです。
