土こねて魅惑の形魔法の手
つち こねて　みわく の かたち　まほう の て

At the beginning it looks like a clump of mud. In the masters hands it slowly takes shape and then when there is a simple design it goes on the potter’s wheel. Once there it is as if the artist’s hands are magic! A beautiful figure appears. Next is a beautiful design, into the oven and then the final outcome is something that is so amazing to me. It may be something as simple as a plate or cup but I am just amazed with its beauty.

　最初、それは泥のかたまりのように見えます。しかし、名人の手で、ゆっくり形が整えられます。それが終わると、ろくろの作業に移ります。ろくろの作業では、名人の手に魔法がかけられたようです。泥のかたまりは、美しい姿に変身します。それに、綺麗な絵付けをほどこして、最後に、窯（かま）に入れます。焼き終えて窯から出すと、驚くほど素晴らしい焼き物が出来上がっています。出来上がったものは、お皿や湯飲み、茶碗のような単純なものですが、私はその美しさに、唯々、感動します。
