時の針進めて戻せ春と秋
とき の はり　すすめて もどせ　はる と あき

In order to increase the amount of daylight during the day, people change the time twice a year. This happens once in the spring and once in the fall. In the spring, the time is set one hour ahead. In the fall, the time is set one hour behind. This practice follows the rule of “spring forward, fall back.” This rhyme is kind of like an advertisement jingle or “rock” song. Resetting time also implies a possible change in the condition of this “rock” or the earth that people live on.

　アメリカでは、日照時間の変化によって、年に二回、時間の変更を行ないます。
春に一回、そして、秋に一回です。春には、時計を一時間、進めます。そして、秋には、一時間、遅らせます。この習慣は、”spring forward, fall back.”「飛び出して、元に戻る」と云う掛け言葉で覚えます。この掛け言葉の調子は、ロックミュージックやコマーシャルソングのような感じです。時間を変化させることは、私達が住んでいる地球の条件を変える可能性を意味しているのかも知れません。
