Traffic lights change color from green to yellow to red. The purpose is to let cars and pedestrians know when to cross and when to stop. Naturally, people try to hurry and get through before the light changes to red. If not, you lose your chance and have to stop. Stopping is inconvenient. For example, if you are walking and it is raining, then stopping means that you will get soaking wet.





青から黄急いで走れ赤になる

　信号機は、青から黄色に、そして、赤に変わります。信号機の目的は、車と歩行者に、止まる時と渡る時を知らせることです。大抵の人は、信号が赤に変わる前に、横断歩道に駆け込み、大急ぎで渡り切ろうとします。そうでないと、困ったことに、交差点で待たなければなりません。傘もささず、雨の中を歩いている時、交差点で立ち止まることは、ずぶ濡れになるということです。
